Senior Data Engineer

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, building, and maintaining scalable data solutions that support reporting, analytics, fraud detection, automation, and future AI initiatives.
You will work with large-scale datasets from multiple business systems and collaborate closely with analysts, developers, architects, and business stakeholders to deliver reliable, high-quality data products. Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines to support business data requirements
  • Build and optimise data products for advanced analytics and reporting initiatives
  • Integrate and harmonise data across multiple transactional, accounting, and CRM platforms
  • Develop and maintain high-performance data management systems and workflows
  • Create prototypes and proofs-of-concept for new data initiatives and technologies
  • Implement data quality controls, monitoring processes, and performance optimisation strategies
  • Collaborate with architects, analysts, and technical teams to improve data reliability, accessibility, and governance
  • Research and evaluate new technologies, tools, and methods for data acquisition and management
  • Maintain data architecture documentation, standards, and deployment processes
  • Contribute to disaster recovery planning and business continuity initiatives
Job Experience and Skills Required:
  • Education: Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, or a related quantitative field
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 8 years' experience in Data Engineering or related disciplines
    • Proven experience delivering Python-based data engineering solutions
    • Experience working with large-scale data environments and complex integrations
    • Agile/Scrum experience advantageous
  • Technical Skills:
    • Advanced SQL development and optimisation
    • Python development for data engineering and automation
    • ETL/ELT pipeline development and orchestration
    • Data orchestration tools such as Airflow
    • SQL Server and PostgreSQL
    • Data transformation, automation, and integration
  • Advantageous:
    • Dimensional modelling and data warehouse design
    • Experience with Sage One, Xero, Business Central, HubSpot, or Microsoft Dataverse
    • Payments, fintech, or financial services industry experience
  • Additional Requirements:
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
    • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
    • Ability to work collaboratively within cross-functional teams
    • Passion for data quality, scalability, and continuous improvement
