Summary

Senior Data Engineer builds and maintains secure, scalable data pipelines and models across on-premise and cloud systems for a large bank, using SQL, Snowflake, and Kafka.

Role Overview

Data Engineer responsible for implementing end‑to‑end data solutions across hybrid technology landscapes, spanning on‑premise systems and cloud platforms. Full‑time permanent position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Translate architecture and design into implementation—analyze solution designs and target architectures, breaking them down into concrete data pipelines, models, and interfaces.
  • Engineer data solutions across hybrid environments—build and operate data components spanning on‑premise systems and cloud platforms with secure, reliable data flows.
  • Work in a Data Mesh/Data Product setup—contribute to data products as well‑defined, reusable assets with clear ownership, schema versioning, and governance.
  • Cloud‑based data engineering—design and implement data models, transformations, and consumption layers optimized for scalability and performance.
  • T‑shaped collaboration and stakeholder interaction—engage with business and technical stakeholders while communicating trade‑offs and progress clearly across teams.

Required Background and Skills

  • Strong experience as a Data Engineer in enterprise environments with solid SQL skills and data modeling principles.
  • Proven experience working with both on‑premise and cloud environments, including integration patterns connecting these systems.
  • Understanding of data mesh principles and “data as a product” concepts with experience in domain‑oriented data teams.
  • Ability to interpret architectural designs and translate them into implementation work.
  • Comfortable operating in a T‑shaped role, combining engineering with stakeholder interaction and alignment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands‑on experience with Snowflake or comparable cloud data platforms.
  • Experience with event‑driven or messaging/streaming platforms, especially Kafka.
  • Familiarity with enterprise data governance practices and experience in regulated environments.
