Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer to design, document, and optimize complex data landscapes across Oracle and related platforms. You will lead reverse engineering, data modelling, governance, quality management, and migration design within multi‑domain environments, including hybrid and cloud architectures.

This role requires strong analytical capability, deep Oracle expertise, and the ability to advise management, IT, and business stakeholders on data architecture, compliance, and transformation strategies.

Key Responsibilities

Inventory & Documentation

• Map all existing systems and databases (Oracle and related platforms).
• Document data flows, dependencies, and relationships.
• Set up and maintain a source catalogue and metadata repository.

Reverse Engineering & Data Modelling

• Analyze Oracle schemas and ERDs.
• Identify tables, views, PK/FK relations, triggers, packages.
• Design conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
• Document reference and master data.

Data Profiling & Quality Management

• Execute data profiling on source systems.
• Produce data quality reports (completeness, consistency, duplicates).
• Advise on clean‑up, normalization, and performance optimization.

Governance, Privacy & Compliance

• Design data governance models and processes.
• Classify data according to AVG, GDPR, BIO.
• Define retention periods and anonymization guidelines.
• Advise on encryption, key management, RBAC.

Migration & Integration

• Design logical data models and attribute mappings.
• Define migration strategies (phased, dry‑runs, validation).
• Support API‑driven integration and ETL/ELT design.
• Safeguard data quality, compliance, and performance during migration.

Architecture & Innovation

• Advise on data architecture principles (Data Vault, Dimensional Modelling, Data Mesh).
• Support streaming integrations (Kafka, Oracle GoldenGate).
• Contribute to cloud migration initiatives (Azure, AWS, GCP).
• Support data lakehouse architecture design.

Required Skills & Experience

• 8–10 years of experience as a Senior Data Engineer.
• Fluent in Dutch (speaking, reading, writing).
• Strong hands-on experience with Oracle DBMS (SQL, PL/SQL, Data Dictionary).
• Expertise in data modelling (conceptual, logical, physical).
• Experience with reverse engineering tools (Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler).
• ETL/ELT experience (Informatica, Talend, DBT).
• Strong knowledge of data governance, data management, and data architecture.
• Experience with complex data migrations and hybrid/cloud environments.
• Understanding of AVG, GDPR, BIO compliance.
• Experience with CI/CD for data pipelines.
• Strong scripting and automation skills (PL/SQL, etc.).
• Performance tuning and query optimization expertise.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Ability to coach and guide junior engineers.
