Senior Data Engineer
Summary
Senior Data Engineer with a Finnish data & AI consultancy client (sourced via People Hive): designs and delivers scalable data platforms, ELT pipelines, and customer data solutions using Snowflake, Databricks, Microsoft data platforms, cloud (Azure/AWS/GCP), Terraform IaC, and DataOps practices. Hybrid role in Helsinki, Tampere, Jyväskylä, or remote within Finland.
People Hive is supporting a client in Finland in the search for an experienced Senior Data Engineer to design and deliver scalable data platforms, pipelines, and modern data solutions across diverse customer environments.
The client focuses on building robust architectures that enable businesses to use their data effectively. The successful candidate will work directly with customers, translating complex business requirements into practical, high-performance technical solutions.
The role will also contribute significantly to architecture discussions, implement infrastructure as code, and maintain high standards for data quality and observability.
Critical Requirements
- 5+ years of professional experience in Data Engineering
- Strong hands-on experience with Snowflake, Databricks, and/or Microsoft data platforms
- Proven expertise in data architecture and data modelling
- Experience designing and maintaining large-scale ELT solutions and scalable data pipelines
- Strong proficiency in cloud platforms: Azure, AWS, or GCP
- Fluency in both Finnish and English, written and spoken
Important Requirements
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform
- Solid understanding of DevOps/DataOps principles, including CI/CD, automated testing, and observability
- Ability to work effectively in a customer-facing capacity
Nice to Have
- End-to-end experience with Snowflake and dbt
- Experience building enterprise-scale solutions on Databricks
- Knowledge of streaming technologies such as Kafka, Spark Streaming, or Flink
- Expertise in data governance, metadata management, lineage, and security
- Experience with GenAI/ML data infrastructure, RAG, or vector databases
- Proficiency in Power BI or semantic modelling
