Senior Data Engineer / Power BI Consultant – 3 Month Contract

Salary: $100 – $125 per hour

About the role

The successful consultant will be required to work onsite at the client's Northern Suburbs Melbourne office three days per week, working directly with business users, SMEs and the broader project team.

Key responsibilities

• Lead requirements-gathering and discovery sessions with Sales and other business stakeholders

• Translate business requirements into clearly defined reporting, data and semantic-model requirements

• Facilitate workshops to define KPIs, measures, dimensions, business rules, security requirements and dashboard functionality

• Develop initial dashboard prototypes and use these to validate and refine requirements with business users

• Work iteratively with stakeholders, incorporating feedback throughout the engagement

• Prototype and develop a Power BI Sales Dashboards

• Analyse JDE data structures and determine the tables and source data required

• Develop SSIS, SQL and/or Python-based ingestion and ELT processes

• Design and build Silver/conformed and Gold/reporting data layers

• Design dimensional models and data marts

About you

• Demonstrated experience gathering and documenting business and reporting requirements

• Strong stakeholder-management and workshop-facilitation skills

• Ability to work directly with business SMEs to translate relatively high-level requirements into a working data and reporting solution

• Comfortable operating as a client-facing consultant, rather than solely as a technical developer

• Strong SQL Server, T-SQL and data-engineering capability

• Strong SSIS and Power BI experience

• Strong dimensional and semantic modelling experience

• Experience with RLS and enterprise security requirements

• Available to work onsite three days per week in Melbourne's Northern Suburbs for the duration of the engagement
