Senior Data Engineer

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Data Engineer to join the Information and Business Intelligence Team at Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust.

This key senior role will support the development and optimisation of the Trust's data warehouse, reporting and analytics platform; Utilising SQL Server, SSIS, SSRS, SSAS and Power BI. The post holder will lead on robust and scalable data flows, maintaining existing flows whilst also supporting the teams aspects of migrating to a new EPR system, and work closely with clinical, operational, technical and senior colleagues to ensure high-quality information for operational, statutory and strategic reporting.

Operating with significant autonomy as a senior role in the design, development, implementation and support of the Trust's data engineering capability, with particular responsibility for building and maintaining robust data flows from operational systems into the Trust data warehouse and analytics platform (RADAR).

To lead on the development, optimisation and maintenance of complex ETL processes, SQL scripts, data models and related technical components across the Trust's Business Intelligence estate, including SQL Server, SSIS, SSRS, Power BI and associated reporting databases and services such as RADAR.

To provide specialist technical leadership within the Information and BI service, translating business and information requirements into scalable data engineering solutions, and ensuring that data products are designed to meet the needs of clinicians, operational teams, managers and external reporting bodies.

To lead on the implementation of data quality, validation, monitoring and documentation standards across data engineering processes so that information products are reliable, reproducible and aligned to NHS definitions, national standards and local Trust requirements.

To mentor and support other analysts and developers within the team, promoting good engineering practice, strong version control, knowledge sharing and continual service improvement across the Information and BI service.
