We are in search of a Senior Data Engineer who will be pivotal in designing our advanced data ecosystem and spearheading the shift towards a self-service platform model. This role is integral to enhancing our data capabilities and ensuring that our engineering practices align with our ambitious growth objectives.

What you will do

  • Develop and execute a state-of-the-art Data Lakehouse strategy utilizing Amazon Redshift and Redshift Serverless to optimize data storage and retrieval.
  • Oversee the core dbt framework to facilitate decentralized analytics engineering, ensuring robust CI/CD processes and thorough testing protocols.
  • Coordinate intricate batch and near-real-time workflows through Apache Airflow, enhancing the efficiency of data processing operations.
  • Design and expand the Machine Learning platform, focusing on feature store management and the establishment of model training pipelines.
  • Manage streaming transformation pipelines using technologies such as Apache Flink or Spark Streaming to support real-time data processing needs.
  • Incorporate AI-assisted development workflows, including tools like Claude Code, to streamline engineering tasks and improve monitoring capabilities.
  • Supervise managed data ingestion processes via Fivetran and custom-built Python pipelines to ensure seamless data flow.
  • Maintain high standards for platform performance, cost-effectiveness, data integrity, and reliability across all data assets.
  • Establish data security protocols, access controls, and privacy measures to comply with financial regulations and standards.
  • Provide mentorship to junior and mid-level engineers, while also creating and maintaining technical documentation and best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the design and scaling of complex enterprise data architectures.
  • Strong command of SQL and proficiency in at least one programming language such as Python, Java, or Scala.
  • Demonstrated experience with both batch processing and real-time streaming data architectures.
  • Capability to design platforms that promote safe, self-service data modeling for analysts and other stakeholders.
  • A keen interest in large language models (LLMs) and the integration of AI coding assistants within the development lifecycle.
  • Excellent communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with stakeholders across both technical and business sectors.
  • Proficiency in both Italian and English is essential for this role.

  • Experience with cloud-based data solutions and architectures.
  • Familiarity with data governance frameworks and best practices.
  • Knowledge of additional programming languages or data processing tools.
  • Previous experience in the financial technology sector.
  • Understanding of data privacy laws and regulations relevant to financial services.
