Why This Role Is Important

You will be joining an innovative application development team within SimCorp's Product Division. We provide a cloud native SaaS product built on Azure using modern development principles, technologies, and practices. The product, Digital Engagement Platform (DEP), has been operational for 4 years and is being lifted to the next level, modernizing architecture and tech stack so we can scale DEP for a much larger audience than we can today.

What You Will Be Responsible For

  • Building and maintaining data pipelines – designing and implementing ELT processes integrating with various client systems to support the application’s data needs.
  • Ensuring data quality and reliability – ensuring consistency of data through its lifecycle.
  • Optimising data processing – continuously tuning queries and data processing to improve speed, cost optimisation, and efficiency as volumes grow.
  • Working together with teammates and architects to define and refine the product architecture and roadmap – and find potential improvements to existing software.
  • Data modelling – organising and mapping data and their relationships.
  • Guiding and supporting teammates to spread data knowledge and experience more broadly in the team.
  • Participating in support activities and client communication.
  • Facilitating and working on the migration of our current data platform towards a more modern tool stack with high quality and maintainability.

What We Value – Skills and Experience

  • Expert in Snowflake
  • Expert in SQL
  • Proficiency in dbt (data build tool) for data manipulation, testing, data quality, and governance
  • Proficiency with Airflow (Astronomer)
  • Proficiency in Python
  • Some proficiency in C# .NET can be helpful
  • Familiarity with Microsoft cloud data services, Azure SQL, Azure Data Factory, Analysis Services (the old tech stack)
  • Cloud Data Warehouses experience
  • Managing schema changes in existing deployments
  • Managing temporal data / SCD Type 2
  • Entitlements
  • Managing the complexity of multiple clients and balancing re‑use vs. customisation
  • Security‑first mindset, with knowledge on how to implement row‑level security etc.
  • Agile development methodologies and DataOps practices such as continuous integration, continuous delivery, and continuous deployment (e.g., automated DB validations and deployment of DB schema using DACPAC)
