About the Role
We're hiring a Senior Data Engineer for our Credit Front Office Technology team. The team supports loan origination and secondary CLO trading. It builds heavily with AI dev agents, so you'll split your time between hands-on coding and directing and reviewing agent-generated work. Architecture, data modeling and code quality are a primary part of the job.
What You'll Do
- Build and ship features across the stack, hands-on, while directing AI dev agents
- Make framework and tooling calls, such as Redux vs. local state, an ORM vs. raw SQL, or how to structure Pydantic models, and hold agent-generated code to the same standard
- Write clear specs for agent-driven work and review the output the way you'd review any PR: functionality, architecture and code quality
- Design data models and schema changes, and judge whether the database design actually makes sense
- Use your credit lending, loan origination and CLO knowledge to catch business-logic errors that tooling can't
- Drive architectural decisions across backend, data and frontend
Required Qualifications
- Valid US visa, or the ability to live in the United States for at least 6 months
- Hands-on SQL and data modeling, especially for data warehouses
- Hands-on Python with FastAPI, Pydantic and pandas/ETL, able to build and debug this yourself as well as review it
- Solid React/TypeScript, including Redux and component architecture
- Sound judgment about frameworks and libraries: not only how to use Redux, an ORM or Pydantic, but when each is the right tool and when it's overkill
- Comfortable owning code review and technical approach, including spotting bad abstractions, bad queries and bad schema design
- Financial services background, ideally in credit/lending, loan origination, or capital markets/structured credit
