We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to serve as a primary architect and operator of our next‑generation data ecosystem. You won’t just be "moving data"—you will be building a scalable, governed, and high-performance Medallion Architecture within Google Cloud Platform (GCP). The ideal candidate is someone who balances the "builder" mindset with an "operational" rigor. You understand that a data platform is only as good as its reliability, and you thrive on turning raw, chaotic data into a pristine, gold‑standard asset for the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Platform Orchestration: Design and maintain end‑to‑end data pipelines using Fivetran for ingestion and dbt for sophisticated transformations.
- Architecture Management: Implement and optimize a Medallion Data Architecture (Bronze/Silver/Gold) within BigQuery to ensure data quality and lineage.
- Governance & Security: Utilize Google Dataplex for data fabric management and Google Sensitive Data Protection (SDP) to ensure compliance and PII masking.
- Data Modeling: Build and maintain the semantic layer using LookML to provide a unified data catalog and consistent business logic.
- Visualization Support: Partner with BI Analysts to enable high‑performance reporting in both Power BI and Looker.
- Reliability Engineering: Monitor pipeline health, optimize BigQuery slot utilization, and implement automated CI/CD for data deployments.
Minimum Qualifications
- Experience: 5+ years in data engineering, with a heavy focus on the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) ecosystem.
- BigQuery Mastery: Deep knowledge of partitioning, clustering, and SQL optimization.
- dbt Expertise: Proven track record of managing complex dbt projects (macros, tests, and documentation).
- Security Mindset: Familiarity with Google SDP and managing data access controls at scale.
- Semantic Layering: Experience writing LookML to define dimensions, measures, and explores.
- Communication: Ability to explain technical trade‑offs to non‑technical stakeholders (e.g., why we need a Silver layer before jumping to Gold).
- Ideal candidate will have experience in the Retail and/or eCommerce environments.
- Willing to work onsite office at Ortigas, Pasig City.
