Description

Your impact begins here

As Senior Data Engineer, you will build the data foundations that bring Supply Chain AI Solutions to life. You will turn complex requirements into scalable, compliant, production-ready data products and pipelines that power strategic AI use cases for the Supply Chain organisation. Working hands-on in Databricks, you will help move ideas into reliable operation, supporting resilient supply chains and the delivery of treatment to millions of people living with serious chronic diseases.

What you’ll bring

You bring strong production delivery experience and the ability to lead the data engineering side of an AI use case, from idea to reliable operation.

  • A Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science or a related field.

  • At least 8 years of experience in data engineering, including 3+ years in a senior role.

  • Deep expertise in Azure Databricks, including Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, Workflows and Databricks SQL.

  • Strong proficiency in Python, Apache Spark and SQL, with proven experience designing and building scalable, production-ready data pipelines and data products.

  • A solid understanding of BI concepts, dimensional modelling, report and semantic layers, data integrations and self-service data platforms.

  • Hands-on experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, GitHub, coding best practices and agile ways of working such as Scrum.

  • Professional proficiency in English, with the ability to communicate clearly with technical teams, business stakeholders and colleagues at different levels of the organisation.

You are technically curious and enjoy building data products that make a real difference. You are structured, take ownership, drive direction and inspire others to keep improving, and you stay on top of the latest trends in data engineering and AI.

Useful, but not essential:

  • A Databricks Certified Data Engineer (Professional) certification or another relevant data engineering or cloud certification.

  • Familiarity with Azure and AWS cloud services.

  • Experience with Power BI or similar BI tools.

What you’ll do

You will set the critical path for Data Engineering within the delivery team to ensure we deliver reliable, production-ready products for our use cases, while sharing your expertise and support team members in adopting best practices. This includes being a hands-on technical contributor who is comfortable in taking the lead in building the required data products for use case from the early phase all the way to production.

  • Design and implement data and model pipelines in Databricks, using Unity Catalog for governance and medallion architecture patterns to organise and serve reliable data.

  • Apply an AI-first engineering mindset to create robust, scalable data foundations that are ready for future AI-driven manufacturing and supply chain use cases.

  • Work hands-on across the full engineering lifecycle, from data modelling and pipeline development to testing, deployment, monitoring and continuous improvement.

  • Build high-quality data products and pipelines within our established Databricks platform and engineering framework, with a focus on performance, cost efficiency, governance, compliance and maintainability

  • Turn complex requirements into clear engineering priorities, identifying the critical path and making pragmatic decisions about what to solve now, what to simplify and what to develop further over time

  • Mentor and develop data engineers through design sparring, code reviews and practical coaching.

This is a hands-on engineering role where you will spend the majority of your time designing, building and improving solutions, while also providing technical guidance to less experienced engineers. You will work closely with the Lead Data Engineer and other senior technical colleagues, contributing to engineering direction while focusing on turning that direction into high-quality, working solutions.

Who you’ll work with

You will join Enterprise AI within Enterprise IT & Quality, where colleagues work across the Novo value chain, stay close to stakeholders and help deliver trusted technology and high quality. Your team is Supply Chain AI Solutions: a small, end-to-end team where data scientists and engineers work side by side, combining analytical depth with the engineering capability to bring solutions into production.

Your closest colleagues are the Tech Lead, the Lead Data Scientist and the AI Product Owner. You will also collaborate with engineers, architects, data scientists and business stakeholders in the Supply Chain organisation, acting as a senior technical contributor across teams. Together, you will make clear decisions, keep delivery moving and turn practical needs into better operational decisions.

The team is cloud-native, working with platforms such as Databricks, Azure and AWS. It values agility, diverse thinking and continuous learning, and its culture is built on feedback, honesty and fun. The role is based in Ballerup, Denmark.

What you can expect here

You will be trusted to take ownership, share your voice and shape how data engineering is built within Supply Chain AI Solutions. You will keep growing through continuous learning and career development, working on AI use cases at the forefront of technology, alongside colleagues who raise the bar with you.
