Senior Data Engineer
Position purpose
Be the technical anchor of the data platform. Everything the BI and AI teams produce depends on pipelines that run reliably and data people trust — this role owns that foundation and sets the engineering standard for a team about to double with junior hires.
Key responsibilities
• Design and own the data architecture for ingestion, storage and serving, from SAP and shop-floor sources into the warehouse and data mart and out to BI and ML consumers.
• Build and maintain production-grade ETL and ELT pipelines with orchestration, monitoring, alerting and documented recovery procedures.
• Own data quality: profiling, validation rules, reconciliation against source, and a published data quality dashboard.
• Define and enforce engineering standards — version control, code review, testing, environment promotion, pipeline documentation.
• Model the core data domains: material, supplier, customer, order, production and cost.
• Optimise cost and performance of the data platform; own the query and storage cost profile.
• Technically mentor Data Engineers through code review and pairing.
• Implement access control and data handling appropriate to customer-confidential and financial data.
Required qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Engineering or related field.
• 4+ years in data engineering including at least 2 years owning pipelines running in production.
• Expert SQL; strong Python for data engineering, orchestration, ML frameworks.
• Hands-on with a modern data platform and an orchestration tool.
• Experience extracting from ERP source systems; SAP extraction is a strong advantage.
• Demonstrated ownership of data quality and pipeline reliability with concrete examples of failures handled.
• Working English; Thai fluency preferred.
Preferred qualifications
• Streaming or event data experience for shop-floor sources.
• Manufacturing or supply chain data domain knowledge.
• Cloud cost optimization.
• Master data management exposure,
• Experience mentoring junior engineers or running a graduate programme.
