Role Overview

We are looking for a Senior Data Governance Consultant with 7–9 years of experience in Data Governance, Data Management, and Azure data platforms. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on expertise in Microsoft Purview and experience establishing governance frameworks, metadata management, data quality, data classification, lineage, and data stewardship across enterprise data environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement Data Governance frameworks, policies, standards, and operating models.
  • Configure and manage Microsoft Purview for data cataloguing, metadata, classification, lineage, and governance.
  • Develop and maintain business glossaries, data dictionaries, data domains, and critical data elements.
  • Establish data ownership, stewardship, and governance RACI models.
  • Define and implement data quality rules, KPIs, monitoring, and remediation processes.
  • Implement and maintain data lineage and impact analysis across enterprise data platforms.
  • Support data classification, sensitivity, privacy, security, and compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate with Azure Data Engineering and Architecture teams to embed governance-by-design into data solutions.
  • Work with Azure services including ADLS Gen2, Azure Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, Databricks, Azure SQL, Power BI and/or Microsoft Fabric.
  • Conduct data governance assessments, identify gaps, and develop governance roadmaps and improvement plans.
  • Work closely with business stakeholders, data owners, stewards, architects, engineering, security, and compliance teams.
  • Prepare governance documentation, dashboards, reports, and executive-level recommendations.

Required Skills

  • 7–9 years of experience in Data Governance, Data Management, Data Quality, Metadata Management, or Data Architecture.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Purview.
  • Strong understanding of Azure data platforms and cloud data governance.
  • Experience with Data Cataloguing, Metadata Management, Data Lineage, Data Classification, Data Quality, and Business Glossaries.
  • Understanding of Azure Data Lake, ADF, Synapse, Databricks, Power BI/Fabric.
  • Knowledge of data security, privacy, access governance, and compliance.
  • Strong stakeholder management, consulting, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Experience working with enterprise-scale data environments is preferred.
  • DAMA/CDMP, Microsoft Azure, or related certifications are an advantage.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Management, Engineering, or a related field.
