Position Summary:

The Senior Data Integration Engineer designs, develops, implements, and supports secure, scalable, and reliable integrations across enterprise applications, databases, cloud platforms, vendor solutions, and operational systems. This role owns complex data movement and transformation solutions from requirements through production support, with a strong emphasis on SQL database structures, Vertex integrations and tools, data quality, performance, observability, and technical documentation. The engineer partners with application, infrastructure, security, analytics, and business teams to translate operational requirements into maintainable integration architectures.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and deliver end-to-end batch, near-real-time, and event-driven integrations among enterprise applications, databases, APIs, files, messaging platforms, and external partners.
• Develop and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, views, triggers, jobs, schemas, indexes, constraints, and data models that support integration and reporting workloads.
• Analyze source and target database structures, relationships, keys, data types, dependencies, and business rules; create source-to-target mappings and transformation specifications.
• Build, configure, test, deploy, monitor, and troubleshoot Vertex integrations using applicable connectors, interfaces, APIs, import/export utilities, configuration components, job scheduling, and logging capabilities.
• Create integration services using REST and SOAP APIs, JSON, XML, CSV, fixed-width files, secure file transfer, webhooks, queues, JDBC/ODBC, and other enterprise exchange patterns.
• Develop reusable ETL/ELT components, data pipelines, validation routines, reconciliation controls, restart and recovery processes, and exception-handling frameworks.
• Lead performance tuning, root-cause analysis, defect remediation, and production support for integration failures, latency, data-quality issues, and database bottlenecks.
• Implement logging, auditability, alerting, metrics, dashboards, and operational runbooks to strengthen observability and reduce manual intervention.
• Apply standards for source control, peer review, environment promotion, release management, configuration management, and separation of development, test, and production environments.
• Protect sensitive data through least-privilege access, encryption, secrets management, secure transport, appropriate masking, retention controls, and alignment with organizational security requirements.
• Collaborate with architects, analysts, developers, vendors, and business stakeholders; mentor less-experienced team members and provide technical direction for complex integrations.
• Create and maintain architecture diagrams, interface inventories, data dictionaries, lineage documentation, support procedures, test evidence, and technical design documents.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• Seven or more years of progressive experience in data integration, database development, application integration, software engineering, or related disciplines.
• Three or more years leading or independently delivering complex, production-grade integration solutions across multiple systems and data domains.
• Advanced SQL development and troubleshooting experience with Microsoft SQL Server and SQL Server Management Studio, including T-SQL, stored procedures, query optimization, SQL Agent jobs, backup and recovery concepts, and security roles.
• Advanced knowledge of relational database structures, including normalized and dimensional models, tables, views, relationships, keys, indexes, constraints, transactions, locking, execution plans, and referential integrity.
• Hands-on experience integrating Vertex solutions, including applicable configuration tools, connectors, APIs, data mappings, file interfaces, scheduling, error handling, reconciliation, and production support.
• Experience with one or more additional relational database platforms such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL/MariaDB, or IBM Db2.
• Experience with integration and data-engineering platforms such as SSIS, Azure Data Factory, Informatica, Talend, Boomi, MuleSoft, or comparable ETL/iPaaS tools.
• Proficiency with REST and SOAP APIs and associated authentication patterns, including OAuth 2.0, certificates, tokens, service accounts, and secrets management.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills, including the ability to explain technical risks and designs to non-technical stakeholders.
  Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with Azure SQL Database, Azure Synapse Analytics, Microsoft Fabric, Snowflake, Databricks, Amazon Redshift, Google BigQuery, or comparable cloud data services.
• Working knowledge of document, key-value, column-family, graph, search, and caching technologies such as MongoDB, Cosmos DB, DynamoDB, Cassandra, Neo4j, Elasticsearch, or Redis.
• Experience with Visual Studio Code, Git, Azure DevOps or GitHub, PowerShell, Python, Postman, database comparison tools, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Knowledge of data quality, master and reference data, metadata, lineage, governance, reconciliation, auditing, and privacy principles.
• Experience supporting tax, ERP, billing, finance, monitoring, or other high-volume transactional platforms.
• Relevant certifications in Microsoft data technologies, cloud platforms, database administration or development, integration platforms, or Vertex solutions.
