Senior Data Java Engineer

Role Overview:

We are looking for a Data Engineer with strong Java experience to join a team responsible for building and enhancing a cloud-based platform for risk data processing and analytics. The role focuses on developing scalable data pipelines, microservices, and integrations handling large volumes of real-time and batch data. You will collaborate with engineers and business stakeholders to deliver secure, high-performance, and reliable technology solutions.

Responsibilities:

• Translate business requirements into secure, scalable, and performant technical solutions.
• Design, develop, and maintain data processing pipelines and Java-based microservices.
• Build and optimize integrations with internal systems, focusing on performance and cost efficiency.
• Design and document data ingestion solutions and technical blueprints.
• Develop and maintain REST APIs.
• Review existing solutions and recommend improvements or modernization opportunities.
• Collaborate with engineers, analysts, and stakeholders to ensure solutions meet business needs.
• Implement best practices for logging, monitoring, error handling, and automated recovery.

Requirements:

• Strong knowledge of Java and software design principles (SOLID, DRY, KISS).
• Experience with Spring Boot and related technologies.
• Experience designing and implementing scalable data processing pipelines.
• Experience with REST API development.
• Knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases (preferably PostgreSQL and Bigtable).
• Understanding of CI/CD and DevOps practices, including Jenkins and Groovy scripting.
• Experience with integration patterns and frameworks (e.g., Saga, Lambda patterns).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Nice to Have:

• Experience with GCP services (GKE, Cloud SQL, Dataflow, Bigtable).
• Knowledge of observability tools (OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana).
• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and Terraform.
• Experience with Kafka and streaming solutions.
• Knowledge of Apache Beam or Vaadin.
