Job Description
The Senior Data Platform Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, and optimization of the organization’s enterprise data platform. This role plays a key part in building scalable data infrastructure, enabling advanced analytics, and supporting data-driven decision-making across the organization.
Scope of Work and Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain scalable and secure data pipelines and data lake/warehouse architectures.
- Optimize data workflows for performance and cost-efficiency in cloud environments (e.g., Azure).
- Lead the adoption of modern data engineering tools and frameworks (e.g., Databricks, Azure Data Factory).
- Monitor and troubleshoot data platform performance and reliability issues.
- Collaborate with product delivery teams and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver meaningful insights.
- Participate in Agile development processes, including Scrum and Kanban events.
- Prepare high-level and detailed technical designs for data solutions.
- Apply best practices in coding, testing, and deployment, including CI/CD pipelines.
- Stay updated with the latest trends in analytics engineering and recommend process improvements.
- Perform other related tasks as assigned.
Requirements and Qualifications (Education & Work Experience)
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
Relevant Experience and Other Requirements
- At least five (5) years of experience in platform engineering or software engineering roles.
- At least five (5) years of experience in architecture, design, and development of integrated systems.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Proven experience with cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform.
- Experience developing microservices for data integration using TypeScript or Python.
- Familiarity with data pipelines and modern data warehousing solutions such as Databricks.
- Familiarity with relational databases (e.g., Microsoft SQL Server).
- Knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and project management methodologies.
- Experience working in Agile environments (e.g., Scrum or Kanban).
- Experience with Azure DevOps is preferred.
- Experience with Azure Cloud Services and CI/CD pipelines is an advantage.
- Certifications in Secure Coding, Scrum, or DevOps are a plus.
- Experience working in teams of five (5) or more members.
- Ability to work effectively with senior stakeholders from diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
