Senior Data Platform Engineer

About the Role

We build a cloud platform to ingest, store, and make sense of drone flight data (telemetry, logs, media). The data layer you design will handle evolving schemas, high‑rate time‑series telemetry, and semi‑structured logs, and provide efficient query interfaces for dashboards and other consumers.

Key Responsibilities

• Design the data model for flight telemetry, logs, and media.
• Architect a schema evolution strategy to accommodate software drift.
• Build pipelines that transform raw uploads into queryable structured data.
• Make decisions on database, time‑series store, object storage, and read patterns.
• Collaborate with the Cloud Engineer and the GCS team to align on data ingestion and storage choices.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years as Data Engineer, Data Platform Engineer, or Backend Engineer at a data‑centric company.
• Proven experience designing evolving schemas and executing migrations on live systems.
• Hands‑on knowledge of storage backends, including database and time‑series solutions.
• Experience building and running data pipelines that handle changing input formats and versioned payloads.
• Hands‑on operational experience maintaining the data systems you design.

Nice to Have

• Experience with time‑series storage at scale.
• Experience with telemetry or IoT sensor data.
• Experience with schema versioning across evolving systems.
• Background processing media (video, image) alongside structured data.
