Role Overview

We are looking for a hands-on Senior Data Scientist to design, develop, and optimize agentic conversational AI solutions for banking IVR systems. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in conversational AI, NLU tuning, experimentation, and GenAI, with a focus on improving intent recognition, slot filling, and overall conversational quality using Amazon Connect and Amazon Lex.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and support agentic conversational AI capabilities for IVR solutions using Amazon Connect and Amazon Lex.
• Conduct experiments to evaluate intent recognition, slot-filling performance, utterance handling, and conversation quality.
• Analyze interaction data, model outputs, and test results to identify performance gaps and improvement opportunities.
• Tune intent descriptions, training data, prompts, and NLU assets to improve model performance.
• Collaborate with technical leads to refine conversation flows, slot-filling strategies, and delivery priorities.
• Evaluate and implement LLM- and GenAI-based capabilities for intent understanding and conversational AI.
• Present findings, recommendations, and performance metrics to stakeholders and leadership.
• Identify delivery risks, resolve issues, and ensure timely execution.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in Data Science, Machine Learning, NLP, or a related field.
• 2+ years of hands-on experience building GenAI solutions.
• Strong experience in analytics, experimentation, model evaluation, and performance tuning.
• Experience with conversational AI, NLU, chatbots, virtual assistants, or IVR solutions.
• Hands-on experience with Amazon Connect and Amazon Lex, or comparable conversational AI platforms.
• Knowledge of LLMs, GenAI, and modern NLP techniques.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and contribute quickly in a delivery-focused environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience tuning intent classification, slot filling, fallback handling, and dialogue behavior in production.
• Strong Python and data analysis skills.
• Experience with prompt-based evaluation and LLM-assisted NLU workflows.
• Experience collaborating with onshore and offshore delivery teams.
