Senior Data Scientist (m/f/d) (Data Scientist)
IT. Your advantage: Through us, your application documents are sent
directly to the decision maker. In addition, you benefit from free
advice on all your career questions. And you get an authentic insight
into the daily work routine of your potential employer at an early
stage. Tasks You develop and improve the distributional forecasting
models of a growing software company in the grocery retail sector,
working across model architecture, calibration and coverage You deepen
existing production models, monitor forecast quality metrics
continuously and act quickly when performance degrades You identify
where current approaches reach their limits and shape what comes next
methodologically You make substantial contributions to the inventory
simulation and ordering policy framework and drive improvements
through to production You shape the technical direction in your focus
area, contribute to methodology decisions and hold a high bar for code
quality, testability and production readiness across the team You take
responsibility for end-to-end pipeline quality, from input data
integrity through forecast output to the performance of live order
recommendations, including regular backtesting and monitoring You ship
production-quality work with well-tested, readable and thoroughly
reviewed code, using agentic AI coding tools (e.g. Claude Code,
Cursor) as part of your daily workflow You work closely with
engineering, product, sales and customer operations and translate
operational findings from store level into product improvements
Profile You hold an MSc or PhD in a quantitative field such as
statistics, mathematics, physics, operations research or computer
science You have built systems that make decisions under uncertainty
with real operational consequences, not just research prototypes Your
background is in at least one of probabilistic forecasting, stochastic
inventory simulation or operations research, with solid working
knowledge across the others You are deeply familiar with
distributional and probabilistic forecasting methods (e.g. quantile
regression, LGBM with distributional output, GAMLSS-type models,
conformal prediction) You have a solid grounding in stochastic
inventory theory, newsvendor models, related ordering policies and
service level optimisation You write production-grade Python and SQL
on large, messy, real-world data and have experience with ML model
evaluation and monitoring in production settings You are comfortable
working with GCP (BigQuery, Cloud Run, Vertex AI) and dbt, and you are
familiar with workflow orchestration (Airflow or Cloud Composer), Git,
containerisation and CI/CD You use agentic AI coding tools (Claude
Code, Cursor or similar) with daily fluency You translate complex
mathematical reasoning into decisions that product teams and
non-technical colleagues can act on You ideally bring experience from
supply chain optimisation, demand planning or retail, ideally combined
with startup or scale-up experience You are fluent in English; German
is not required Benefits You receive an attractive compensation
package including equity participation (VSOP) Home-Office
possibilities 30 vacation days You receive individual relocation
support if you are moving to Berlin Kontakt Further details apart from
the job description as well as information about the company are
