Senior Database Administrator
Requirements
Bell is seeking experienced Intermediate Database Administrators to support and manage enterprise database platforms in a 24x7 production environment. This role focuses on database administration, performance optimization, security, and reliability while working closely with infrastructure, security, and application teams. The ideal candidate is technically strong, proactive, and comfortable operating in complex and high-availability environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the implementation, administration, and ongoing maintenance of enterprise database systems.
- Provide 24x7 production support, including participation in after-hours on-call rotations.
- Monitor, analyze, and optimize database performance to ensure high availability, scalability, and resilience.
- Manage database backup, recovery, monitoring, and performance tuning using standard enterprise tools, including Oracle OMS.
- Design and implement robust database architectures aligned with business and cloud requirements.
- Work closely with security and compliance teams to ensure databases meet regulatory, audit, and enterprise security standards.
- Implement data security strategies, including encryption technologies such as Oracle Transparent Data Encryption (TDE).
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and design scalable on‑prem and cloud-based database solutions.
- Participate in capacity planning and ensure efficient resource utilization.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date technical documentation related to database configurations, procedures, and operational support.
- Stay current with emerging database, cloud, and automation technologies and recommend continuous improvements.
Required Technical Skills (Top 5)
- Database Technologies: Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL (5–7 years)
- Scripting & Automation: Python, Shell scripting (5–7 years)
- Enterprise Database Architectures: Complex and large-scale database environments (5–7 years)
- Database Monitoring & Performance Tools: Backup, monitoring, tuning tools including Oracle OMS (5–7 years)
- Data Security: Database security concepts and implementations, including Oracle TDE (5–7 years)
