Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain high-performance SQL Server and cloud database systems.
• Optimize query performance, conduct capacity planning, and ensure scalability to support business growth.
• Provide hands-on production support by responding promptly to urgent database issues, troubleshooting incidents, identifying root causes, and implementing effective solutions to minimize downtime and business disruption.
• Diagnose and resolve database performance bottlenecks, monitor system health, and proactively address issues affecting database speed, stability, and reliability.
• Develop and enforce data governance, security policies, and compliance standards.
• Lead data integration, migration, and ETL pipeline development for seamless data flow.
• Architect and support enterprise data warehouse and data lake solutions for actionable insights.
• Collaborate with Engineering, FP&A, and cross-functional teams to align data solutions with business goals.
• Ensure database reliability through proactive monitoring, backup, and disaster recovery planning.
• Evaluate and implement innovative database technologies and cloud solutions.
• Collaborate with development teams on database changes, release processes, version control, and CI/CD practices to support reliable deployments.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server administration and optimization.
• Strong expertise in T-SQL scripting, database architecture, and performance tuning.
• Proficiency with cloud database platforms like AWS RDS, Aurora PostgreSQL, data warehousing tools such as Amazon Redshift, and DynamoDB.
• Experience troubleshooting production database issues, responding to time-sensitive incidents, and resolving complex performance and reliability problems.
• Experience with database monitoring, backup and recovery strategies, disaster recovery planning, and high-availability solutions.
• Experience with CI/CD tools, version control, and Agile development environments.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to communicate complex concepts clearly.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid work setting.

Work Location & Schedule

• This position is based at Mathnasium's corporate headquarters in the Los Angeles metropolitan area. Candidates must be able to commute to headquarters on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays for in-person collaboration. Tuesdays and Fridays are designated work-from-home days.
