ROLE OVERVIEW
We are seeking a highly capable Senior DBA/DBA to take the helm of our technical database operations and safeguard the data integrity of a highly critical engineering software ecosystem. In this position, you will direct a specialized database team, tackle complex Level 3 and Level 4 technical challenges, and guarantee optimal system performance and uptime throughout standard business hours.
Beyond day-to-day operations, you will act as a proactive data custodian. A major component of this role involves preparing and future-proofing our current data architecture, ensuring it is primed for seamless migration into upcoming, large-scale strategic digital transformations.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
- Direct or work with a specialized technology support squad focused on advanced L3 and L4 database upkeep, optimization, and continuous improvement.
- Oversee demanding, high-volume SQL landscapes. You will take full ownership of storage capacity planning, routine backup schedules, and the execution of yearly disaster recovery (DR) simulations.
- Act as the ultimate Subject Matter Expert partnering with System Integrators to drive data profiling, cleansing, remediation, and enrichment initiatives.
- Spearhead the rollout, patching, and modernization of database infrastructure, with a strong focus on managing and upgrading Microsoft SQL Server 2014 and 2019 environments.
- Operate seamlessly within a Service Integration and Management (SIAM) framework. You will collaborate closely with external vendors and partners to mitigate shared risks and guarantee flawless, end-to-end ICT service delivery.

To be successful in this position, you will bring a blend of strong technical mastery
- At least 6-10+ years of proven experience managing and leading technical support teams within a SIAM-aligned enterprise IT environment.
- Exceptional, deep-level technical proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server architectures (specifically 2014 Enterprise and 2019 versions), including extensive experience configuring and managing High-Availability (HA) clusters.
- A strong, demonstrable history of executing data governance and migration strategies, particularly in support of massive Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system upgrades.
- You must currently hold an active AGSVA NV1 Security Clearance, as this role requires privileged access to secure, Protected government/enterprise environments.
- Must be available to work on-site in a full-time capacity at offices in Western Suburbs of Melbourne.
