We are looking for a Senior PostgreSQL DBA / Database Reliability Engineer to join a high-performing technology team in Wellington. This is a permanent opportunity for an experienced database professional who enjoys working at the intersection of databases, cloud infrastructure, automation, and DevOps practices.

In this role, you will:

• Manage, maintain, and optimise AWS Aurora PostgreSQL environments to ensure performance, availability, and security.
• Design and implement database solutions using Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD pipelines.
• Support database migrations, upgrades, disaster recovery, and production support activities.
• Collaborate with developers, DevOps engineers, and product teams to deliver reliable database platforms.
• Drive automation, monitoring, performance tuning, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Ngā uara me ngā pūkenga e angitu ai koe | What you'll need to succeed

• Strong commercial experience as a PostgreSQL DBA, Database Engineer, or Database Reliability Engineer.
• Experience supporting PostgreSQL in production environments, ideally within AWS Aurora or RDS.
• Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code using CDK, CloudFormation, Terraform, or similar technologies.
• Knowledge of cloud-native database services and modern DevOps practices.
• Experience with automation and scripting using tools such as Python or Bash.
• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Experience working within Agile delivery environments, with SAFe experience is highly regarded.
• Desirable experience includes: PostGIS, Serverless technologies, disaster recovery automation, and large-scale database migration projects.
