The Hosting Database team is part of Technology Infrastructure. The team supports ASX’s business-critical database platforms, including SQL Server, Oracle Database, PostgreSQL, Amazon RDS and Aurora across hybrid on-premises and AWS cloud environments.
Your responsibilities:
Lead incident and problem resolution as part of a 24/7 roster, including remediation, stakeholder communication and root cause analysis
Manage SQL Server security, availability, performance, recovery, capacity, monitoring and patching across business-critical environments
Plan and deliver database changes, upgrades and migrations, providing senior technical input into design, standards, operational readiness and lifecycle management
Maintain operational playbooks, build standards and knowledge artefacts that improve consistency across the database estate
Apply automation, scripting and infrastructure-as-code practices to improve efficiency, repeatability, compliance and reliability
Contribute to Oracle Database, Amazon RDS and Aurora administration activities as required, working with platform
Must have:
Extensive recent experience supporting Microsoft SQL Server in business-critical environments
Strong capability in SQL Server performance tuning, database design, troubleshooting and operational problem management
Experience designing, implementing and supporting SQL Server high availability and disaster recovery solutions, including
Always On availability groups and backup and restore strategies
Nice to have:
Automation experience using PowerShell, Ansible, Terraform or similar tools to support repeatable database builds, configuration management, backup and restore processes, and operational checks
Exposure to Oracle Database, PostgreSQL, Amazon RDS and Aurora across hybrid on-premises and AWS cloud environments
Experience in financial services or a similarly regulated industry
Relevant Microsoft, AWS, Oracle or equivalent certifications
