Company Overview & Vision

Founded in Singapore in April 2026, CITA Lab is a dynamic software development startup dedicated to building high-quality, custom blockchain-related products tailored specifically to our customers' requirements. Our diverse product lineup includes centralized/decentralized cryptocurrency exchange solutions, secure crypto wallets, smart contracts, dApps, and more. We turn complex blockchain capabilities into seamless, secure, and intuitive user experiences for clients worldwide.

Responsibilities

- Design and maintain scalable database architectures for crypto exchanges, wallets, payment systems, and other financial applications.

- Design highly available and fault-tolerant database infrastructure suitable for production-critical systems.

- Optimize complex SQL queries, indexes, schemas, and execution plans for high-volume workloads.

- Diagnose and resolve database performance bottlenecks in production environments.

- Design reliable data models for financial transactions, balances, ledgers, deposits, withdrawals, and blockchain-related data.

- Ensure strong transactional integrity and consistency across distributed systems.

- Develop strategies for replication, partitioning, sharding, clustering, and horizontal scaling.

- Design and maintain database backup, restore, disaster-recovery, and point-in-time recovery strategies.

- Implement database monitoring, alerting, capacity planning, and performance analysis.

- Work closely with backend engineers on transaction boundaries, locking strategies, concurrency control, and efficient database access patterns.

- Design safe database migration and schema-evolution strategies with minimal or zero production downtime.

- Identify and resolve deadlocks, lock contention, replication lag, slow queries, connection exhaustion, and other production database issues.

- Participate in architecture reviews and provide guidance on database technology selection.

- Establish database security best practices, including access control, encryption, auditing, secrets management, and least-privilege policies.

- Participate in incident response, root-cause analysis, and post-incident improvements.

- Review database-related code and mentor engineers on database design and performance best practices.

What you'll do

As a Senior Database Engineer at CITA Lab, you will be responsible for designing and maintaining high-performance, highly available, and reliable database systems supporting blockchain, cryptocurrency, and financial applications. You will work closely with Backend Engineers, Blockchain Engineers, DevOps/SRE Engineers, Security Engineers, and Solution Architects to build data architectures capable of supporting large-scale transactional workloads. Because many of our systems involve financial balances, deposits, withdrawals, trades, blockchain transactions, and other sensitive financial records, data integrity and consistency are critical parts of this role. We are looking for someone who understands databases beyond basic administration and can make strong architectural decisions around performance, scalability, consistency, availability, and disaster recovery.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of professional experience in database engineering, backend infrastructure, DBA, or related roles.
  • Strong production experience with relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL and/or MySQL.
  • Deep understanding of SQL optimization, indexing strategies, query execution plans, and database internals.
  • Strong knowledge of ACID transactions, isolation levels, MVCC, locking, deadlocks, and concurrency control.
  • Experience designing databases for high-throughput transactional systems.
  • Hands-on experience with replication, high availability, failover, backup, and disaster recovery.
  • Experience designing and executing large-scale database migrations with minimal downtime.
  • Strong understanding of database monitoring and production troubleshooting.
  • Experience operating databases in cloud environments such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure automation and modern DevOps practices.
  • Strong understanding of database security and access-control principles.
  • Ability to investigate complex production issues independently.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with distributed engineering teams.

  • Cryptocurrency exchanges
  • Blockchain infrastructure
  • FinTech or payment platforms
  • Banking or financial systems
  • Trading platforms
