Job:
• Own the health, performance, and reliability of our core transactional databases.
• You will be the technical custodian for DB2, Oracle, and PostgreSQL environments that power 24x7 payment and fare collection systems used by millions.
• This is a hands-on DBA role with a software engineering mindset. You will design, automate, and troubleshoot databases, partner with dev and infra teams, and ensure we meet strict SLA and PCI DSS requirements.
Role:
Database Operations & Reliability:
• Design, implement, administer, and monitor DB2 v10+, Oracle 11g+, and PostgreSQL 14+ databases for performance, security, and availability.
• Own backups, restores, HA and DR strategies to achieve 99.99% uptime.
• Respond to DB alerts and incidents within SLA. Perform root cause analysis and drive resolution with vendors.
Performance & Architecture:
• Proactively tune databases: index management, statistics, query plans, and capacity planning.
• Review and validate data models using ERWIN or equivalent tools.
• Develop automation scripts for routine ops, patching, and health checks.
Collaboration & Governance:
• Act as the DB SME to development teams.
• Review schema changes and advise on best practices.
• Ensure all database designs and operations comply with PCI DSS, EMV, and internal security policies.
• Maintain documentation for configurations, runbooks, and change records.
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering or equivalent.
• 5+ years hands-on experience as a Database Administrator for Oracle, DB2, and/or PostgreSQL in production.
• Proven experience with HA/DR, backup/recovery, and performance tuning.
• Strong SQL skills: Stored Procedures, PL/SQL, and complex queries.
• Scripting experience: Shell, Python, or PowerShell for automation.
• Experience with Linux, AIX, Solaris, and/or Windows server environments.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Nice to Have: Cloud database experience: AWS RDS, Azure DB, GCP Cloud SQL.
• Experience with ERWIN or other data modeling tools.
• Exposure to PCI DSS, EMV, or payment card environments.
• Experience supporting high-volume transactional systems like Banking, Telco, or Automatic Fare Collection (AFC).
