Senior DB2 Database Administrator

We are seeking an experienced DB2 Database Administrator to manage, optimize, and support enterprise-level DB2 LUW environments. The role involves overseeing database upgrades, performance tuning, high availability setups, and vendor coordination, while ensuring reliability and scalability of mission-critical systems.


Key Responsibilities

  • DB2 LUW Management: Administer DB2 versions 10.1, 10.5, 11.1, and 11.5.

  • Database Upgrades: Perform version upgrades and patch updates.

  • Health Monitoring: Conduct regular checks using Reorgchk, reorg, runstats, and backups.

  • Database Recovery: Execute restores including redirected restore via TSM and disk-level backups.

  • Performance Monitoring: Utilize db2top, per stats, AppDynamics, and DBI tools.

  • Database Migration: Lead migrations from AIX to Linux using db2look, db2move, and DB admin move.

  • Automation & Scripting: Develop automation with shell scripting, Git, Ansible, and Jenkins.

  • High Availability Setup: Configure DB2 HADR/TSA for high availability.

  • Capacity Planning: Conduct performance testing and capacity planning.

  • Stakeholder Management: Collaborate across DTP for on-prem Enterprise Technology Database services.

  • Vendor Management: Coordinate with vendors (Unisys, Cenitex, contractors) for infrastructure support.

  • Incident & Change Management: Represent Enterprise Database changes in CAB meetings.

  • Inventory Management: Maintain infrastructure and DB inventory, ensuring smooth vendor and stakeholder coordination.

  • Cost Optimization: Oversee server decommissioning and specification optimization.

  • Monitoring Improvements: Drive initiatives to enhance monitoring and alerting systems.


Qualifications

  • Proven experience with DB2 LUW administration across multiple versions.

  • Strong knowledge of database recovery, migration, and high availability solutions.

  • Hands-on expertise with performance monitoring tools and automation frameworks.

  • Excellent stakeholder and vendor management skills.

  • Familiarity with ITIL processes including incident, change, and capacity management.
