Senior Design Engineer / Assistant Design Manager
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Design Manager in leading and coordinating design activities across civil, structural, architectural, and M&E disciplines to meet project and regulatory requirements.
- Take ownership of specific design packages or technical disciplines, driving progress from concept to final approval.
- Coordinate closely with consultants, internal design teams, BIM modellers, and subcontractors to optimize designs, resolve technical clashes, and streamline workflows.
- Review and validate design drawings, structural calculations, and authority submissions to ensure quality and accuracy prior to client or formal authority submission.
- Interface with LTA, consultants, and relevant authorities to facilitate design submissions, secure approvals, and resolve technical queries.
- Monitor and oversee design schedules for assigned packages to ensure all deliverables align with project milestones.
- Ensure all designs incorporate constructability, safety requirements (DFS), and strict compliance with local codes, Eurocodes, and LTA standards.
- Provide technical support to the site construction team by optimizing designs, resolving design-related issues, and proposing practical engineering solutions on-site.
Job Requirements
- Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering recognized by the PE Board Singapore (or equivalent).
Minimum 6 to 8 years of civil/structural engineering experience, with a proven track record in major infrastructure, LTA, or MRT projects. - At least 3 to 5 years of experience in a senior or coordinating role managing civil and structural designs for large-scale transport, viaducts, tunnels, or station projects.
- Strong understanding of LTA design criteria (SDC), TOP/CSC authority submission processes, and local regulatory frameworks.
- Proficient in reviewing multi-disciplinary designs and utilizing BIM tools (e.g., Revit, Navisworks) for coordination and clash detection.
- Well-versed in temporary works design, construction staging concepts, and managing complex interfaces across different disciplines.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills to effectively liaise with client stakeholders, authorities, and site teams.
- Highly motivated, able to work independently with minimal supervision, and capable of managing multiple design deliverables under tight deadlines.
