Senior Design Quality Engineer for Connected Products

Summary

Senior engineer who designs and runs tests for connected HVAC tools, working with hardware, firmware, and software teams to ensure reliability and performance before launch.

Ensure Our Next Generation of Connected Products Launch with Confidence

Fieldpiece is a privately held, global leader in professional HVACR tools and test instruments. We're known for developing innovative products that technicians rely on every day - and for investing in our people, our technology, and our future. Named one of the Best Places to Work in Southern California for four consecutive years, we're looking for talented people who want to make an impact while growing their careers.

At Fieldpiece, quality isn't something we inspect at the end of development - it's designed into every product from the very beginning.

As our Senior Design Quality Engineer – Connected Products (Hardware & Software), you'll work alongside Mechanical, Electrical, Firmware, Software, and Product Engineering teams to ensure our next generation of connected HVACR tools deliver exceptional performance, reliability, and user experience.

Rather than reacting to problems after products launch, you'll help prevent them. You'll define verification strategies, validate new technologies, influence engineering decisions, and ensure every product meets the high standards Fieldpiece customers expect.

If you enjoy solving complex technical problems, asking the tough questions early, and helping engineering teams build products right the first time, this is an opportunity to make a lasting impact.

What You'll Do

  • Partner with Engineering throughout the development of new hardware, firmware, software, and connected products.
  • Develop verification and validation strategies that ensure products meet customer, performance, and regulatory requirements.
  • Design and execute test plans that validate functionality, reliability, usability, and safety.
  • Build and evaluate prototypes while identifying opportunities to improve product quality before launch.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide technical guidance throughout product development.
  • Investigate failures, identify root causes, and drive corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with global manufacturing partners to support successful product launches.

This position is in Orange, CA with an exciting move to Tustin, CA in 2028. This role follows a hybrid work schedule, with employees typically working onsite three days per week. Additional in-office days may be required from time to time for onboarding, training, team meetings, project collaboration, or other business needs.

What Makes This Opportunity Different

  • Influence products before they reach customers.
  • Work on innovative products across hardware, firmware, software, and connected technologies.
  • Help develop products used by HVAC professionals around the world.
  • Collaborate directly with design engineers throughout the development lifecycle.
