Senior Designer (Brand Systems)
Summary
Senior designer who stewards Museum of the Bible's visual identity — building brand guidelines, templates, and scalable design systems spanning marketing, exhibits, signage, print, and digital. Hands-on role using Figma with CMS collaboration (WordPress/Prismic), on-site in Washington, DC and reporting to the Lead Designer.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the development and evolution of Museum of the Bible’s visual identity and brand system.
- Create and maintain comprehensive brand guidelines, design standards, templates, and reusable assets that support consistency across the organization.
- Design and help art direct campaigns, publications, environmental graphics, signage, exhibit collateral, presentations, advertising, and other branded communications.
- Ensure all creative work aligns with the Museum’s brand standards while supporting departmental and institutional goals.
- Collaborate with exhibit, marketing, development, education, and digital teams to extend the brand consistently across every guest touchpoint.
- Partner with the web and internal teams to ensure the Museum’s digital experiences faithfully represent the established brand system.
- Review creative work across departments and provide recommendations that strengthen brand consistency and design quality.
- Mentor designers and contribute to raising the overall quality of creative execution across the team.
- Stay current on branding, typography, visual identity systems, design trends, and emerging creative technologies.
- Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Digital Design, UX/UI, or related field.
- 5+ years of professional experience in digital design, with strong emphasis on branding and web.
- Proficiency in Figma is a plus! including design systems, component libraries, prototyping, and collaboration workflows.
- Demonstrated experience building and maintaining scalable digital design systems.
- Working knowledge of CMS platforms (Wordpress, Prismic or similar) and comfort collaborating on content updates.
- Basic understanding of the web and front-end principles (responsive design, grid systems, accessibility standards).
- Strong digital brand sensibility and systems-oriented mindset.
- Deep understanding of layout, typography, interaction patterns, and responsive behavior.
- Ability to think strategically while executing at a high level of craft.
- Confident presenting and defending design rationale to stakeholders.
- Organized, process-driven, and detail-oriented.
- Collaborative leader who raises the standard of digital execution across the team.
- Champions the Museum of the Bible’s mission to invite all people to engage with the transformative power of the Bible.
- As required, inclusion in official or incidental photographs and videos for MOTB and/or guests.
- Demonstrates leadership within a collaborative creative environment.
