Description

In a Nutshell

You are a brand designer with a love for typography and craft – and you know how to turn an idea into a convincing story. At Design Hotels, you shape the visual identity of our brand and of the hotels in our community. As part of the services we offer our hotels, you develop brand identities from first creative route to complete visual system and bring them to life across print and digital touchpoints. This is a hands-on design role without team leadership or art direction for photo and film productions.

Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Shape identities: Develop creative routes and brand identities for our hotels – logos, typography, color and graphic language.
  • Define the imagery: Set the image style for each brand and select and curate visuals with intent.
  • Build systems: Turn identities into scalable visual systems and clear, easy-to-use brand guidelines.
  • Bring brands to life: Design print and digital assets for Design Hotels and our hotels – from stationery, menus and signage to social media and campaigns.
  • Tell the story: Create concept presentations, moodboards and decks, and present ideas to stakeholders and hotel partners together with the Senior Art Director.
  • Craft every detail: Prepare print-ready artwork and work with print partners on materials and finishes.
  • Collaborate: Work closely with copywriters, digital designers and project managers, and keep several projects moving at a high level of craft.

Experience and Mindset

  • 5+ years of experience in brand or identity design, ideally in an agency or design studio
  • A portfolio of strong identity work, with case studies that show your process from concept to application
  • Excellent design and conceptual skills: you explore distinct creative routes and develop them into convincing designs
  • A strong sense of imagery and visual storytelling
  • Excellent typography skills – from type pairing to detailed typesetting – and a keen eye for detail
  • Strong presentation skills: you build compelling decks in Keynote, PowerPoint or Google Slides and can explain and defend your design decisions
  • Expert in Adobe Creative Suite and Figma
  • Strong knowledge of print production, from artwork preparation to colour management, papers and finishes
  • Excellent communication skills: you explain your ideas clearly, listen well and handle feedback constructively
  • A true team player who enjoys working closely with others – proactive, well organized and hands-on
  • Fluent English; German is a plus
  • Permission to work within Germany

Nice to have

  • Experience with hospitality, food & beverage, travel or lifestyle brands
  • Motion design skills to bring identities to life
  • Confident use of AI-assisted tools in your creative workflow

The Team

  • You report to the Senior Art Director and are part of a creative team of 20 – art directors, designers, editors, writers, project managers, brand managers and media managers – led by our Creative Director.
