Senior Developer Advocate (Auth0)

Summary

Secure Every Identity, from AI to Human

Identity is the key to unlocking the potential of AI. Okta secures AI by building the trusted, neutral infrastructure that enables organizations to safely embrace this new era. This work requires a relentless drive to solve complex challenges with real-world stakes. We are looking for builders and owners who operate with speed and urgency and execute with excellence.

This is an opportunity to do career-defining work. We're all in on this mission. If you are too, let's talk.

As a Developer Advocate, your job will be to empower developers to better secure their applications with Auth0. You will lead workshops, help create deeply technical content that delights, and support developers on their journey to implement Auth0 in their code. You’re a great match if you have the rare combination of empathy, technical savvy, and the ability to influence for impact.

Auth0 secures more than 100 million logins each day for customers worldwide—and we're growing fast! To help drive this growth, our mission is to become the customer identity and access management (CIAM) provider of choice for developers building small and large applications. To advance this mission, Developer Relations engages with developer communities to help them adopt Auth0 and advocate on their behalf across Okta.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Outbound advocacy - As a Developer Advocate at Auth0, you will serve as the face of our platform to developers around the world, with a special focus on startups. Your role will involve inspiring, educating, and empowering developers to better secure their applications using Auth0. You will work closely with developers at startups helping them understand and implement best practices in identity, access management, and cybersecurity. The specific ways you engage will depend on your unique skill set, but your responsibilities will include:
    • Public speaking: Represent Auth0 at industry events, conferences, and webinars, engaging the developer community and showcasing our expertise.
    • Content creation: Develop and share high-quality technical content such as blog posts, tutorials, videos, and labs to educate and inspire developers about Auth0 and customer identity.
    • Community Building: Build and nurture relationships with developers influential within the community and our customers.
  • Developer advocacy - Advocate for developers' needs and pain points within the Auth0 Product unit in Okta, actively improving the Auth0 developer experience in and around the product.
    • Proactively collaborate with your counterparts in Product and Architecture as a representative of the DevRel team
    • Customer[0] - Collaborate on the crafting and launch of Auth0 capabilities - reviewing early documentation, SDKs, and product capabilities.
    • Customer[n+1] - Bring insights and developer feedback back into the company to inform and shape product development and improvements in our documentation, APIs, SDKs, and features

We would love to hear from you if you have:

  • Technical background or good understanding of Application Development and IT operations; familiarity with Identity and Authentication Management software, credentialing, and cybersecurity concepts a plus.
  • Hands-on technical experience deploying, configuring, or implementing software tools and products.
  • You find joy in serving the developer community and helping fellow developers get better at their jobs, with the ability to explain and translate complex technology concepts into simple and intuitive communications.
  • You are a strong independent contributor, but you enjoy collaborating with teammates and multi-functional teams.
  • You find a fast-paced, constantly iterative environment engaging and stimulating.

We’d be incredibly excited if you have:

  • Experience working as a Developer Advocate, Developer Evangelist, Sales Engineer, Solutions Engineer, Technical Customer Success Manager, or Technical Account Manager
  • Experience with at least one authentication or authorization protocol (OAuth, OAuth2, OIDC, SAML, LDAP)
  • Understanding of core security concerns within a typical application (password hashing, SSL/TLS, encryption at rest, XSS, XSRF)
  • Experience building web, mobile, and IoT applications, incorporating both front and back end languages/frameworks
  • Experience working with API architectures/technologies like REST and GraphQL. This includes the ability to use the dev tools in a browser to explain HTTP traffic and an HTTP client (like curl or Postman) to interact with an HTTP service
