Senior Developer Experience Writer
You will help thousands of developers understand and succeed with Ably's realtime platform by producing first-class developer documentation with AI at scale. You will write reusable prompts and skills that contributors use to meet quality standards, define what great content looks like, and leverage AI to check technical accuracy. You will build engaging educational content templates, coach engineers to write accurate and developer-friendly content, and champion effective AI use while keeping content free of AI-generated patterns that undermine trust. You will also take ownership of the documentation platform, shaping its components, structure and tooling so content is logically structured and easily navigable.
Responsibilities
- Use AI to produce quality content by writing reusable prompts and skills for docs contributors
- Define and uphold content standards for docs structure, style and technical accuracy
- Build engaging educational content templates that others can use as patterns
- Coach and support engineering contributors to produce accurate, developer-friendly content
- Champion effective AI use while maintaining editorial quality and clarity
- Maintain and elevate the documentation platform's components, structure and tooling
Requirements
- Proven success creating technical content for developers, such as documentation, API references and guides
- Experience reviewing and giving feedback on technical writing and coaching others
- Experience and desire to work in an AI-forward environment
- Experience using AI tools for writing, research and coding, understanding their output and limitations
- Familiarity with APIs, SDKs, and modern web development tools, with ability to read and write code in at least one programming language, ideally JavaScript
- Strong instincts for developer experience, particularly around onboarding
- Proactive, self-directed mindset with ability to own projects end to end
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Experience at a startup or growth-stage company, or adaptability to a fast-paced agile environment
