Senior DevOps and infrastructure engineer
A SaaS platform for remote monitoring and management of point-of-sale devices, about 100,000 agents. The backend is Windows-based and runs on AWS: .NET and legacy VB components with a large SQL Server database. The team is small, and this person would work directly with the lead developer.
What they'll own
- Monthly patching, monitoring, alerting, and backup checks across the Windows server estate, with the focus on preventing outages, not just responding to them
- Building and maintaining a cost-controlled QA environment, including load testing that simulates production traffic
- CI/CD pipelines with automated deployment and rollback
- Infrastructure as code for new and existing resources
- Tracking and reducing AWS costs
- Gathering evidence for PCI compliance and security reviews
- Supporting larger infrastructure changes, such as a database migration and a move to a message queue
Must have - Senior-level, hands-on production experience administering Windows Server (patching, IIS, file shares, Active Directory)
- SQL Server operations: backups, log management, performance, and high availability; experience with Amazon RDS a plus
- AWS: EC2, RDS, networking, IAM, CloudWatch, and Systems Manager
- Terraform or CloudFormation
- CI/CD for .NET applications, with any common tool
- PowerShell, plus Python or Bash
- Daily, practical use of AI coding tools such as Claude Code for scripting, infrastructure as code, and log analysis
Nice to have
- RabbitMQ or Amazon MQ
- PostgreSQL or SQL Server migration experience
- Familiarity with legacy .NET, WebForms, or VB6 systems
- Load testing tools such as k6 or JMeter
- Experience in PCI DSS environments
Working expectations
- Strong written and spoken English, and comfort owning problems end to end without close supervision
- Meaningful overlap with US business hours and participation in an on-call rotation
