Senior DevOps / Cloud Engineer
We are seeking an experienced Senior DevOps / Cloud Engineer to provide technical expertise in designing, building, automating, securing, and supporting cloud environments for large-scale Public Health initiatives. The successful candidate will have extensive hands-on experience with AWS cloud technologies, Linux administration, Kubernetes, Docker, CI/CD automation, cloud security, monitoring, and enterprise application integration.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert-level AWS cloud platform expertise for the design, implementation, and support of cloud-based solutions.
  • Design, build, and support secure and scalable cloud environments supporting Public Health applications.
  • Create, manage, and maintain AWS and related cloud-based production systems.
  • Deploy and automate application packages and infrastructure for cloud-based systems.
  • Ensure high availability, performance, security, scalability, and reliability of production environments.
  • Monitor and assess application performance in cloud environments and proactively identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Review production logs, analyze issues, and recommend proactive measures to improve system stability.
  • Administer and support Linux/Unix operating systems, including Red Hat and Solaris, covering installation, troubleshooting, hardening, and scripting automation.
  • Develop and implement cloud security safeguards to maintain data integrity and prevent unauthorized access.
  • Implement security best practices across identity management, networking, encryption, and cloud infrastructure.
  • Work with microservices and distributed application architectures using containers, Kubernetes, Docker, and serverless technologies.
  • Define and deploy systems for metrics, logging, monitoring, and operational visibility across AWS environments.
  • Design and maintain automation tools for operational processes and infrastructure management.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitLab and other DevOps tools.
  • Support API integration and enterprise application integration initiatives, including Salesforce and MuleSoft.
  • Develop and maintain system design models, technical specifications, integration plans, and implementation documentation.
  • Set up and maintain development environments using tools such as Jira, Confluence, Maven, Jenkins, and similar technologies.
  • Troubleshoot and tune production environments to improve application performance.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and vendor products and provide recommendations for architecture and process improvements.
  • Provide technical leadership and collaborate effectively with project teams, architects, business stakeholders, and technical teams.

AWS Cloud Expertise
  • Minimum 10+ years of overall IT experience.
  • Extensive experience creating, managing, and maintaining AWS and related cloud-based production systems.
  • Strong experience with deployment and automation of packages for cloud-based systems.
  • Proven ability to ensure availability, performance, security, and scalability of AWS production environments.

Important Candidate Requirements
This is a 100% onsite position in Toronto, requiring the successful candidate to work 5 days per week onsite.
