Discussion

Summary

Customer-facing consulting DevOps engineer on CloudPlexo's Ghana team who architects, builds, and optimizes secure, cost-efficient AWS environments for clients. Day-to-day work spans AWS networking and EKS, Terraform/Terragrunt infrastructure as code, CI/CD pipelines, cloud migrations (DMS/MGN), and observability with tools like CloudWatch, Prometheus, and Grafana.

We’re looking for a Consulting DevOps Engineer (AWS) to join our Ghana team. This is a highly customer-facing role where you’ll act as a trusted technical advisor and hands-on builder. You’ll work directly with engineering teams, CTOs, and technical stakeholders to architect, implement, and optimize AWS environments that are secure, resilient, and cost-efficient.

You will play a key role in designing, building, and maintaining scalable cloud infrastructure while collaborating closely with internal teams and external clients to deliver reliable, secure, and cost-optimized solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Customer-Facing Consulting

  • Serve as a technical consultant during customer engagements and architecture discussions

  • Provide clear solution design guidance and prevent technical misalignment

  • Translate complex cloud concepts into practical implementation strategies

Cloud Infrastructure Design & Management

  • Architect and manage complex, highly secured AWS environments

  • Design multi-AZ VPC architectures, Transit Gateway routing, VPC peering, and hybrid connectivity (Site-to-Site VPN)

  • Implement high availability and multi-region HADR patterns

Cloud Migration & Modernization

  • Lead and execute cloud migration strategies including lift-and-shift using AWS MGN

  • Perform database migrations using AWS DMS with minimal downtime

  • Support modernization initiatives beyond simple infrastructure replication

Automation & CI/CD

  • Implement Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and Terragrunt

  • Build secure CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, AWS CodePipeline)

  • Configure pipelines using IAM role assumption best practices

  • Deploy and manage private EKS clusters without exposing the Kubernetes API server

Security, Compliance & Risk Management

  • Implement strong IAM, KMS, WAF, Shield, and Secrets Manager configurations

  • Support compliance requirements (PCI-DSS, HIPAA, GDPR) across industries

  • Design architectures with security, risk mitigation, and regulatory requirements in mind

Observability & Performance

  • Implement advanced monitoring and observability solutions using CloudWatch, X-Ray, ELK/OpenSearch, Prometheus, and Grafana

  • Optimize system reliability, performance, and incident response visibility

Cost Optimization

  • Proactively identify and remediate cost inefficiencies

  • Optimize compute, storage (e.g., RDS), and networking configurations

  • Balance cost, performance, compliance, and scalability

Requirements

  • 3–5+ years of deep, hands-on AWS experience across services such as EKS, ECS, EC2, RDS, VPC, IAM, Transit Gateway, and networking

  • Strong Infrastructure as Code expertise (Terraform required; Terragrunt preferred)

  • Advanced Kubernetes knowledge (EKS, Helm, autoscaling, private clusters, kubectl operations)

  • Experience designing and implementing complex AWS networking architectures (VPC peering, VPN, route tables, security groups, NACLs)

  • Proven experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps automation practices

  • Hands-on experience with AWS migration tools (DMS, MGN)

  • Strong security and compliance knowledge (IAM, KMS, WAF, Shield, GDPR, multi-region design patterns)

  • Advanced observability experience (CloudWatch, X-Ray, ELK/OpenSearch, Prometheus, Grafana)

  • Strong architectural thinking and problem-solving ability

  • Ability to make sound decisions with limited information

  • Strong understanding of integration, networking, and secure system design principles

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills

  • Ability to think in terms of risk, performance, compliance, and scale

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (or equivalent professional experience)

Benefits

  • Work on high-impact, multi-industry cloud transformation projects.

  • Collaborate with experienced cloud architects and AWS specialists.

  • Grow your consulting and customer leadership skills.

  • Exposure to global clients and complex cloud environments

  • Competitive compensation and benefits package.

  • Career growth within a fast-growing cloud-native consulting firm.
