Senior DevOps Engineer (Azure)

We are seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer (Azure) to design, build, and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines and manage complex release strategies for Azure Synapse Analytics and SQL database environments. In this role, you will drive governance, security, and operational excellence across multiple workstreams while coordinating closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless, traceable deployments from development through production.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines for Azure Synapse Analytics and SQL databases
• Implement YAML-based pipelines with variable groups, deployment templates, and environment approvals
• Manage multi-stage releases, ensuring quality gates and governance compliance
• Define and enforce complex branching strategies, such as Git Flow or trunk-based, to support multi-stream development
• Align code promotion with business release cycles and change request processes
• Coordinate releases across multiple workstreams, including feature branches, hotfixes, and release branches
• Ensure tight integration between development, QA, UAT, and production environments
• Maintain transparency and traceability from Git commits to production deployments
• Manage RBAC policies and permissions for Azure resources
• Oversee the lifecycle of Azure Service Principals and Service Accounts for secure automation and access
• Manage and maintain non-prod and prod environments for Synapse and SQL workloads
• Handle SQL and Synapse operational requests from development teams and business users, ensuring timely resolution of incidents and changes

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in DevOps or DataOps roles, with 3+ years focused on Azure Synapse Analytics
• Experience with multi-team and multi-stream deployment orchestration
• Track record in cloud infrastructure automation and release governance
• Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104) certification
• Azure Data Engineer Associate (DP-203) certification
• Expertise in Azure Synapse Analytics, SQL Server, and Azure SQL Database
• Proficiency in Azure DevOps, YAML Pipelines, and Git (Repos and Versioning)
• Knowledge of RBAC, Azure Active Directory, and Azure Key Vault
• Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
• Excellent coordination and stakeholder management abilities
• Strong documentation and knowledge-sharing practices
• Ability to work independently and across multiple agile squads
• English proficiency at B2 level or higher

Nice to have

• Familiarity with Terraform Enterprise
