Discussion

Summary

Client-facing senior DevOps engineer for TRG Screen's Submarine market-data caching platform in Bangalore: leads pre-sales discovery, implements deployments in client environments using IaC (Terraform, Ansible), Docker/Kubernetes and CI/CD, and supports live systems.

Senior DevOps Engineer - Client Implementation

About Us

TRG Screen is revolutionising reference data management for leading financial institutions. Our Submarine platform provides intelligent data caching and optimisation that eliminates redundant requests and optimises vendor routing, delivering measurable cost reductions of 15 - 25% for market data consumption. We seamlessly integrate with client systems, emulating various data request protocols and response formats while providing unprecedented control over reference data spend.

The Role

We are looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer to join our growing team in a client-facing role. You will be the technical voice of our Data Caching platform, Submarine, for our prospects and clients, supporting Sales through pre-sales conversations and owning the journey through to a live, supported deployment.

Key Responsibilities

Pre Sales and Client Discovery

- Partner with Sales to present and explain the Submarine architecture, deployment model, and environment set-up to client technical, security, and infrastructure teams.

- Capture and document each client's current environment, including infrastructure, network, security controls, and market data integrations and protocols.

- Assess fit between the client environment and our standard deployment approach, identify gaps, and recommend whether we implement as-is or adapt our methods.

- Respond to technical questionnaires, security reviews, and due diligence requests alongside Sales and Engineering.

Implementation and Delivery

- Lead end-to-end implementation of Submarine in client environments, from solution design through deployment, configuration, testing, and go-live.

- Design and deploy cloud-native or on-premise infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation) and manage containerised workloads in Docker and Kubernetes.

- Adapt and automate deployment pipelines (CI/CD) to fit client change-control and release processes.

- Troubleshoot application and integration components, such as connectivity to RabbitMQ and remote SFTP servers.

- Configure client-specific data transformation and routing using JavaScript and API access within Submarine.

- Apply security and compliance best practices, including system hardening, patching, and alignment with client security requirements.

Support and Continuous Improvement

- Act as a technical escalation point for support issues, diagnosing and resolving problems in live client environments.

- Produce clear technical documentation, including runbooks, architecture diagrams, and client-specific configuration records.

- Define disaster recovery and fault tolerance approaches for client deployments.

- Feed client learnings back to Product and Engineering to improve deployment tooling, standards, and the Submarine platform.

- Mentor colleagues and promote DevOps best practices across the Implementation team.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential:

- 6+ years in DevOps, Site Reliability, or Systems Engineering, including senior-level ownership of infrastructure.

- Proven experience in a client-facing or customer-facing technical role.

- Strong hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, Ansible, Pulumi).

- Experience with Docker and container orchestration (Kubernetes, EKS, or similar).

- Solid understanding of cloud platforms (AWS or Azure) and cloud-native patterns.

- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, Jenkins).

- Proficiency in scripting or programming (JavaScript and Python, Go, or similar).

- Excellent troubleshooting skills across networking, messaging (e.g., RabbitMQ), and file transfer (e.g., SFTP) components.

- Understanding of security best practices and compliance frameworks.

Preferred:

- Experience in financial services or market data environments.

- Familiarity with market data systems (Market EDM, Golden Source, Cadence/Cadis, or CRD from State Street).

- API integration experience (REST APIs, data requests, response handling).

- Experience with configuration management tools (Chef, Puppet).

- Experience with observability platforms (Datadog, New Relic, Prometheus/Grafana).

- Knowledge of GitOps tools (ArgoCD, Flux), policy-as-code (OPA, Kyverno), and Docker image pipelines.

- Experience supporting a production service, including on-call or support rotas.

Soft Skills:

- Confident presenter who builds credibility quickly with client technical teams.

- Comfortable working asynchronously and collaborating across Sales, Engineering, Support, and clients.

- Agile mindset with a focus on iterative delivery and ownership from first conversation to go-live.

- Ability to evaluate trade-offs and make pragmatic recommendations when client environments differ from our standard.

Working With Us:

You will work closely with business analysts, engineering teams, Sales, and Support, deepening your understanding of market data systems as you go.
