Senior DevOps Engineer
Summary
Designs and maintains cloud infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines on AWS/Azure/GCP, deploys containerized apps with Kubernetes, and automates ops with Terraform and GitOps.
Role & responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable, secure, and highly available cloud infrastructure on AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Build, optimize, and manage CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps.
- Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration using Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices.
- Deploy, manage, and troubleshoot containerized applications using Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, and OpenShift.
- Implement GitOps workflows using ArgoCD or Flux for automated deployments.
- Monitor application and infrastructure health using Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, Splunk, or Datadog.
- Ensure platform security by implementing DevSecOps practices, vulnerability scanning, secrets management, and IAM policies.
- Optimize cloud costs, system performance, scalability, and reliability across production environments.
- Manage Linux servers, networking, load balancers, DNS, SSL/TLS, and disaster recovery strategies.
- Collaborate with development, QA, security, and operations teams to improve software delivery processes.
- Perform root cause analysis, incident management, and production support for critical applications.
- Implement backup, disaster recovery, and high-availability solutions to ensure business continuity.
- Develop automation scripts using Python, Bash, or Shell scripting to eliminate manual tasks.
- Maintain documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and infrastructure architecture.
- Mentor junior DevOps engineers and promote DevOps best practices across teams.
Preferred candidate profile
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 5 to 10 years of experience in DevOps, Cloud Infrastructure, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or Platform Engineering.
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP cloud platforms.
- Expertise in Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, OpenShift, and container orchestration.
- Proficiency in Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
- Experience building and managing CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps.
- Strong Linux administration and scripting skills using Python, Bash, or Shell.
- Knowledge of GitOps, ArgoCD, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, Splunk, Datadog, and observability tools.
- Good understanding of networking concepts including TCP/IP, DNS, VPN, Load Balancers, Firewalls, and SSL/TLS.
- Experience with databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, and messaging systems like Kafka or RabbitMQ.
- Familiarity with security best practices, DevSecOps, IAM, secrets management, and compliance standards.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Relevant certifications such as AWS DevOps Engineer Professional, AWS Solutions Architect, Azure DevOps Engineer Expert, CKA, CKAD, RHCE, or Terraform Associate are highly preferred.
