Senior DevOps Engineer

We are looking for a dedicated DevOps Engineer to own and elevate our infrastructure, partnering with software and data teams to enhance safety, speed, and observability. You will be responsible for maintaining high availability and ensuring our platform meets stringent reliability standards.

Responsibilities will include:

• Manage all environment resources using Terraform (v1.12+) as the source of truth, with a focus on bringing the data team’s infrastructure fully under codification
• Oversee a multi-account AWS organization on ECS Fargate, including custom VPC topologies and automated security monitoring via WAF and CloudWatch
• Manage GCP infrastructure with Terraform, including BigQuery, Mage, Omni, and analyst workstations behind a VPN; depth in BigQuery operations (slots, reservations, cost controls, IAM) is a plus
• Operate CircleCI and self-hosted GitHub Actions, reduce feedback time for a large Rails test suite, and move toward progressive canary deployments
• Collaborate with engineers on the main Ruby on Rails application, reading application code and supporting work inside the framework
• Maintain SOC 2 and HIPAA compliance posture with Vanta for continuous monitoring and evidence collection, integrating signals from AWS Inspector, GitHub, and Vanta-integrated sources

You’re a great fit if you:

• Have strong experience with Terraform across complex AWS estates (multi-account, multi-workspace) and maintain high standards for state and module hygiene
• Possess deep AWS knowledge, including production-grade ECS, VPC/networking, IAM (especially IAM Identity Center), and observability, with sound judgment on managed services vs. custom builds
• Have operated CI/CD pipelines with a focus on feedback speed, reliability, and deployment safety
• Have experience running infrastructure in regulated environments (SOC 2, HIPAA, or equivalent), including evidence collection for compliance
• Are able to read and collaborate on Rails-class web frameworks; Rails experience is preferred, but comparable experience in Django, Laravel, Spring, Phoenix, or similar frameworks is welcome
• Have familiarity with GCP or are eager to learn; BigQuery operational experience is a plus
• Demonstrate a strong automation mindset, documenting processes and leveraging AI tools to keep documentation current
• Are AI literate, using AI tools to accelerate work while maintaining the ability to review and defend all changes independently
