Senior DevOps Engineer

Summary

Maintains and automates a company’s AWS cloud infrastructure, including VPCs, security groups, and on-prem termination points, while scripting deployments with Chef and Git.

Working within the Infrastructure Product Group team, which consists of other DevOps Lead, DevOps engineers, team manager, and SecOps engineers.

Support and maintain a cloud estate (AWS) and drive infrastructure optimisation and automation. Implement best practice and scripted management of cloud based networks (VPC, subnet, ELB, NACL, NATs, EIP, etc.), and manage the on‑premise termination points.

Help individuals, teams and managers be as effective as possible by embedding an agile culture.

Essential skills and experience

  • 3+ years proven RedHat Enterprise Linux experience, or RHCE certified RHEL7 - Provide specific examples
  • 3+ years proven experience supporting enterprise AWS environments. (Architect, Design, Provision, Setup Network Monitoring)
  • 1+ years hands on experience with Chef scripting - Provide specific examples
  • 2+ years proven experience as a network engineer within a cloud team - Reflected in work history
  • Proven experience of implementing and operating cloud networking best practices in relation; Direct Connect, Transit Gateways, NACLs, IDS/IPS, VPC, security groups) - Provide specific examples
  • Proven experience securing cloud networks - Provide specific example
  • 2+ years’ experience using dev tools (Git, Jenkins, Nexus) - Provide specific examples
  • Work history alignment to above criteria

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Amazon Web Services Certification
  • Experience with migrating to AWS cloud platform- Provide specific example
  • 2+ years’ experience using monitoring tools (Splunk, DataDog, Cloudcheckr)
