Life at Ness

At Ness, people come first. Here, you'll be part of a vibrant team that values curiosity, innovation, and growth. We work with industry-leading clients on projects that truly make an impact while supporting every team member in carving out their unique career path. With resources for learning, certifications, and hands-on experiences, Ness offers you more than just a job—it’s a place where your ideas, ambition, and well-being matter.

The Role

We are searching for a DevOps Engineer to become a new valuable member of the team for our important European client with a long-lasting history in the market. Although the company was initially established with a focus on tire manufacturing, it today holds a strong position also around tire-related services, high-tech materials, or mobility experience solutions - telematics. Mobility experience is an area where Ness is supporting our client to bring high-quality and innovative solutions to their customers. We would like to offer you a unique opportunity to collaborate on our joint success.

The position is a DevOps Partner: you are embedded in one to three development squads as their DevOps expert, while remaining part of the wider DevOps
community. You are "in the squad but not of the squad" - you enable and support the squad rather than taking over all its DevOps work, and you actively push it
towards operational excellence instead of only picking up assigned tasks.

Salary: from 3.000 EUR/month, depending on skills and experience + benefits. The final offer for the selected candidate will reflect the candidate´s comprehensive assessment, skills, and past work experience.

Location: Slovakia only

What you'll do
  • Write and maintain infrastructure as code - Terraform is the primary tool across both AWS and Azure, complemented by Serverless, CloudFormation, Helm and Chef on legacy on-premise systems
  • Support squads on the shared CI/CD tooling (Jenkins standard pipelines, Bitbucket, SonarQube, artifact repositories) - resolve pipeline failures and train the squad on how the pipelines work
  • Help deploy and maintain applications across AWS (Lambda, API Gateway, CloudFront, S3, Kinesis) and Azure (AKS, Cosmos DB, Virtual Machines)
  • Work with the squad to make sure operational requirements are implemented in time - monitoring and alerting, cost management, documentation, operational validation before go-live
  • Set up new projects and components in line with company standards (naming and tagging conventions, repository, pipeline and quality gate setup)
  • Anticipate what the squad will need from the central TechOps and platform teams, raise and refine those requests early, and keep the communication between development and operations flowing
  • Spread your knowledge into the squad - train squad members on day-to-day tasks (deployment jobs, editing Terraform code) and keep the genuinely complex work (module development, tooling) with the DevOps team
  • Contribute to shared DevOps practices, tooling and automation together with experienced DevOps engineers across regions
  • Use AI tools proficiently in your daily work
What you'll bring:
Common requirements:
  • Passionate, results-focused, good communicator
  • Experience working in a corporate environment
  • Strong relationship management skills
  • Stress resistant
  • Team player
  • Motivator
  • Self-driven
  • Ability to work in and manage through complex environments
  • Comfortable influencing and advising development teams rather than only executing tasks
  • Very good level of spoken and written English

Key skillsets:
  • Terraform: Hands-on experience writing and maintaining modules and environments
  • Public cloud: AWS and/or Azure - solid working knowledge of core services
  • Containers: Docker, Kubernetes (AKS)
  • CI/CD: Jenkins (pipeline as code), Git and Bitbucket workflows, static analysis (SonarQube), artifact repositories (Nexus, JFrog)
  • Scripting
Bash - advanced; Python, Groovy, NodeJS - optional
  • Observability
Metrics, alerting and dashboards; experience supporting production systems
  • Configuration
Secrets and configuration management (e.g. SOPS or an equivalent), environment-based configuration
  • Databases Basics - Mongo, MySQL
  • Linux: Basic administration
  • AI tools
Beyond chatbot level: AI coding assistants and agents (Copilot, Claude Code, Cursor or similar) for IaC, scripting and automation
  • English: Advanced, both written and verbal (mandatory)
Nice to have:
  • Chef (or another configuration management tool) for on-premise estates
  • Azure certification at AZ-104 (Azure Administrator) level, or the AWS equivalent
  • Agile software methodology - SCRUM, KANBAN
  • Machine learning fundamentals - model training and evaluation, ML pipelines and deployment

While many of our roles involve just 2–3 steps, some client processes may include additional conversations. Regardless of the path, we aim to keep every step transparent and respectful of your time.
