Senior DevOps Engineer
Accountabilities:
- Maintain scalable, secure AWS infrastructure supporting diverse application stacks and database engines.
- Support software development teams by integrating Java and .NET build, test, and release processes into automated delivery pipelines.
- Build and optimize CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins to enable reliable and automated deployments.
- Implement and manage containerized environments using Docker and Kubernetes (e.g., EKS).
- Monitor, analyze, and fine-tune database performance, query execution plans, and resource utilization across enterprise database platforms (Oracle, MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL).
- Ensure high availability, rapid incident response, and continuous optimization of cloud and database workloads.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve automation, software delivery, database optimization, and security practices.
Responsibilities:
- Manage application build and deployment lifecycles for Java and .NET applications.
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins for automated build, test, and deployment.
- Provision and manage AWS infrastructure and managed database services.
- Analyze slow queries, review execution plans, and implement performance fine-tuning strategies (e.g., indexing, query refactoring, table partitioning, parameter group tuning) for Oracle, MS SQL Server, and PostgreSQL.
- Deploy and manage containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes, ensuring proper runtime configuration for JVM memory and .NET application environments.
- Monitor system and database performance, troubleshooting bottlenecks, high CPU/memory utilization, and connection pooling issues to ensure maximum availability.
- Implement and enforce security, access control, backup/recovery strategies, and operational best practices across dev, test, and production environments.
Team Scope / Stakeholders:
- Collaborate with Java and .NET Software Engineering teams to streamline build configurations, application packaging, and release workflows.
- Work with Database Administration (DBA) teams to optimize SQL queries, improve database performance, and enable efficient release processes.
- Partner with Cloud/Platform Engineering to design and maintain scalable AWS infrastructure.
- Work closely with QA and Testing teams to integrate automated performance and integration testing within CI/CD pipelines.
- Engage with Security teams to ensure compliance with security policies, database access control, and data protection standards.
- Support Product Owners and Business stakeholders by ensuring reliable, high-performing, and timely delivery of applications and services.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 3–5+ years of experience in DevOps, cloud engineering, or database reliability roles.
Programming & Development Skills:
- Strong knowledge of Java development ecosystems and build tooling (e.g., Maven, Gradle, JVM tuning).
- Strong knowledge of .NET / C# development ecosystems and build tooling (e.g., .NET CLI, MSBuild, .NET Core / .NET 6+).
- Proficiency in scripting and operational programming (e.g., Python, Bash, Shell) for automation.
- Proficient in writing, debugging, and optimizing complex SQL queries.
Cloud, DevOps & Database Skills:
- Hands-on experience with AWS services (e.g., EC2, S3, RDS, IAM, EKS).
- Strong experience in CI/CD tools, particularly Jenkins, and version control systems (e.g., Git).
- Strong experience in relational database query optimization and performance fine-tuning for Oracle, MS SQL Server, and PostgreSQL (e.g., execution plan analysis, indexing strategies, deadlocks, lock escalation, buffer pool usage).
- Proficiency in database performance monitoring tools (e.g., AWS RDS Performance Insights, Oracle AWR/ADDM, SQL Server Execution Plans/Profiler, PostgreSQL EXPLAIN ANALYZE / pg_stat_statements).
- Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Experience with containerization and orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Familiarity with application and infrastructure monitoring tools (e.g., CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana).
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex systems, diagnose performance bottlenecks, and work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
