Senior DevOps Engineer
Staples Senior DevOps Engineer
· Build, maintain, troubleshoot, and improve CI/CD pipelines, with emphasis on Azure DevOps pipeline ownership, reusable
templates, consistent YAML patterns, and standardized engineering practices across SPP applications.
· Support and improve Octopus Deploy projects, deployment channels, deployment variables, package promotion patterns,
release pipeline integrations, and deployment automation reliability.
· Support legacy TFS workflows where still required, including build/release definitions, source control integration, artifact
feeds, work item linkage, and migration-readiness activities.
· Prepare SPP for future GitHub adoption by supporting GitHub Enterprise readiness, repository modernization, branching
strategy alignment, pull request workflows, and GitHub Actions evaluation where appropriate.
· Partner with development and infrastructure teams when new pipelines or deployment automation changes are needed,
reducing dependency on application developers for long-term pipeline ownership.
· Create reusable pipeline patterns, build templates, release templates, deployment automation approaches, and technical
standards that improve consistency across Azure DevOps, Octopus, TFS, and future GitHub-based workflows.
· Support Azure platform enablement by developing working familiarity with Azure services, Azure resource management,
identity and access concepts, cloud application delivery patterns, and Azure-native automation opportunities.
· Troubleshoot build failures, deployment failures, Octopus package/deployment issues, TFS integration issues, source
control integration issues, pipeline agent issues, artifact publishing concerns, and environment-related pipeline blockers.
· Partner with infrastructure teams on pipeline dependencies, deployment automation, permissions, secret management,
service connections, agent pools, Octopus variables, Azure resource access, and environment configuration needs.
· Support DevSecOps enablement by helping integrate security scanning, dependency review, vulnerability follow-up, and
compliance checks into CI/CD workflows where appropriate.
· Identify repetitive pipeline, deployment-support, build-validation, and operational engineering tasks that can be automated
through scripts, templates, workflow tooling, or Azure-native automation.
· Create and maintain technical documentation for pipeline design, Octopus deployment automation, TFS workflows,
GitHub readiness, Azure DevOps standards, source control expectations, DevSecOps integration, and troubleshooting
procedures.
