Senior DevOps Engineer
Summary
The DevOps Engineer will manage and optimize scalable AWS infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and containerized environments for Java and .NET applications. The role also focuses on database performance tuning for Oracle, MS SQL Server, and PostgreSQL to ensure high availability and system reliability.
Role Mission:
The DevOps Engineer will maintain scalable, secure, and highly available cloud infrastructure on AWS. This role is responsible for supporting development stacks in Java and .NET, automating deployment pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, optimizing system performance, and ensuring reliability through robust monitoring and incident response practices. Working closely with development, platform, and DBA teams, the engineer will enable efficient CI/CD workflows, container orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes, and database performance optimization for relational database systems (Oracle, MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL). The role also drives continuous improvement by adopting cloud-native technologies, enhancing security and compliance standards, and promoting DevOps best practices across the organization.
Accountabilities:
Maintain scalable, secure AWS infrastructure supporting diverse application stacks and database engines.
Support software development teams by integrating Java and .NET build, test, and release processes into automated delivery pipelines.
Build and optimize CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins to enable reliable and automated deployments.
Implement and manage containerized environments using Docker and Kubernetes (e.g., EKS).
Monitor, analyze, and fine-tune database performance, query execution plans, and resource utilization across enterprise database platforms (Oracle, MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL).
Ensure high availability, rapid incident response, and continuous optimization of cloud and database workloads.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve automation, software delivery, database optimization, and security practices.
Responsibilities: Manage application build and deployment lifecycles for Java and .NET applications.
Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins for automated build, test, and deployment.
Provision and manage AWS infrastructure and managed database services.
Analyze slow queries, review execution plans, and implement performance fine-tuning strategies (e.g., indexing, query refactoring, table partitioning, parameter group tuning) for Oracle, MS SQL Server, and PostgreSQL.
Deploy and manage containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes, ensuring proper runtime configuration for JVM memory and .NET application environments.
Monitor system and database performance, troubleshooting bottlenecks, high CPU/memory utilization, and connection pooling issues to ensure maximum availability.
Implement and enforce security, access control, backup/recovery strategies, and operational best practices across dev, test, and production environments.
Team Scope / Stakeholders: Collaborate with Java and .NET Software Engineering teams to streamline build configurations, application packaging, and release workflows.
Work with Database Administration (DBA) teams to optimize SQL queries, improve database performance, and enable efficient release processes.
Partner with Cloud/Platform Engineering to design and maintain scalable AWS infrastructure.
Work closely with QA and Testing teams to integrate automated performance and integration testing within CI/CD pipelines.
Engage with Security teams to ensure compliance with security policies, database access control, and data protection standards.
Support Product Owners and Business stakeholders by ensuring reliable, high-performing, and timely delivery of applications and services.
Requirements: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
35+ years of experience in DevOps, cloud engineering, or database reliability roles.
