Senior DevSecOps Engineer, Application & AI Security, Synk Integration

Salary: South Melbourne, 6M Contract - EXT. Hybrid Working

We have a (6-Month Contract - Extend) Senior DevSecOps Engineer / Application & AI Security Specialist role.

You will drive the adoption and maturity of DevSecOps across a large enterprise technology environment.

You will work across software engineering, cyber security and platform teams to embed security into the software development lifecycle, implement application security tooling and establish secure development architecture patterns.

A key focus will be implementing and integrating Snyk across development environments, repositories and CI/CD pipelines, alongside designing secure developer sandboxes that enable teams to experiment with AI, LLMs and AI agents within appropriate security guardrails.

This is not a software development role. However, you must have a strong software engineering background and understand application code, development practices and architectures to influence how applications are developed and secured.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive DevSecOps adoption and maturity across software engineering teams.
• Lead the implementation and integration of Snyk (Code, Open Source, Container and IaC).
• Integrate security tools into GitHub, Azure DevOps and CI/CD pipelines.
• Design DevSecOps architecture patterns, secure SDLC frameworks and reusable security controls.
• Design and establish secure developer sandboxes for software and AI experimentation.
• Implement security guardrails around AI applications, LLMs, copilots, agents, APIs and data access.
• Establish application security testing, vulnerability management and remediation processes.
• Work with developers to improve application security and embed security into development workflows.
• Deliver developer security training and establish security champions.
• Develop a roadmap to continuously improve and mature the DevSecOps environment.

Skills & Experience

• Must be Australian Citizen to gain Security Clearance
• Strong background in Application Security and DevSecOps.
• Demonstrated experience implementing and adopting DevSecOps practices.
• Hands-on experience with Snyk and application security tooling.
• Experience integrating security tools into development environments and CI/CD pipelines.
• Understanding of application code, software architecture and development processes.
• Experience designing secure development patterns, frameworks and architecture controls.
• Experience designing or securing developer sandboxes and AI experimentation environments.
• Understanding of AI security risks, including prompt injection, LLM applications, AI agents and security guardrails.
• Knowledge of OWASP, SAST, DAST, SCA and Secure SDLC.
• Experience working across AWS and/or Azure environments.
