Senior Diesel Engine Design Engineer - CATIA V5, Windchill (m/w/d)

We are seeking an experienced Senior Design Engineer (m/f/d) with a strong background in diesel engine development for commercial vehicles.

This position requires close collaboration with engineering teams in both Germany and Brazil. Therefore, fluent / native Portuguese (Brazilian) and fluent English are mandatory requirements.

The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise in engine design, CATIA V5, and PLM processes with the ability to independently drive engineering deliverables in a customer-facing environment.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative engine design solutions.

  • Develop and manage technical documentation related to diesel engine systems.

  • Design and develop diesel engine components and systems using CATIA V5

  • Drive design reviews and support project milestones through effective communication.

  • Conduct engine layout and installation studies across different vehicle platforms.

  • Work within PTC Windchill for part, document, and configuration management

  • Perform thorough DMU build-up, clash detection, and clearance analyses.

  • Ensure compliance with engineering change management processes.

Key Requirements:

  • Languages:

    • Portuguese: Fluent / native Portuguese (Brazilian). Non-negotiable — the role is coordination-heavy with the Brazilian engineering team.

    • English: Fluent. This is the project working language.

  • Technical Skills:

    • CAD: Strong, hands-on CATIA V5 (part design, assembly, drafting, DMU) - Minimum 5 years of productive use.

    • PDM / PLM: Working proficiency in PTC Windchill — part and document management, revisions, change objects, release workflow.

    • Engine domain: Demonstrated experience in diesel engine design and development for commercial vehicles: base engine, air handling, lube, cooling, fuel, exhaust and aftertreatment interfaces.

    • BOM & change management: Practical ownership of BOM structures, engineering change requests and change implementation up to SOP.

    • Engine installation: Engine layout and installation studies in multiple vehicle environments; packaging, clearance and interface definition.

    • DMU: Independent DMU build-up, clash and clearance analysis, and issue closure with cross-functional teams.

  • Documentation: Structured technical documentation and reporting; ability to explain design decisions clearly in writing.

  • Working style: Able to work independently at customer premises with limited specification, own delivery dates and manage own workload.

  • Work authorisation: Valid right to work in Germany, or eligibility for an EU Blue Card / German work visa with a realistic timeline to start by 01 December 2026.
