Senior Director – D&A Data Operations & Governance Leader

Job Description Summary

The Data & Analytics Data Operations & Governance Leader role will be part of the Enterprise Data & Analytics organization at Vernova HQ. The scope includes data ingestion and ETL, AI/ML/GenAI, analytics delivery/visualization and . This role will manage the Support Operations ensuring our business users can effectively execute day-to-day operations, forecasting/planning, reporting/analytics, to meet compliance and regulatory requirements and/or monthly/quarterly/yearly financial closings. The role will also partner with our D&A AMS Partner to facilitate operating rhythms, operational metrics and KPIs and operational improvements across all the Vernova BUs.
In addition to the Data Operations scope, this role will lead the enterprise Data Governance function within Data & Analytics. This role is responsible for establishing and operating the governance framework that ensures enterprise data and analytics assets are trusted, secure, compliant, standardized, and auditable across the organization.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

• Lead a large, diverse global team of technical experts responsible for wing-to-wing delivery of D&A support operations services providing operational subject matter expertise, leadership, and hands-on technical direction.
• Providing Application Support – implement an incident and problem management framework – by defining the configuration structure and processes in ServiceNow.
• Managing the Monthly/Quarterly/Year-end closing support – implement closing coverage and escalation mechanisms, daily monitoring of closing activities and periodic status updates to the leadership and broader user community.
• Manage a global team to oversee and provide leadership direction during operational incidents, ensuring necessary resource availability of subject matter expertise as well s proactive business communications and including on-call duty, as required.
• Implement L1/L2/L3 Support framework – triage, assignment, and routing processes – Implement ‘Follow the Sun’ model to cover all the regions around the globe.
• Define the framework for transferring applications into the Operations/Support framework – drive a good balance with DevOps.
• Define and implement processes to meet the application SLAs and publish metrics on support quality (response time, resolution time and RCA)
• Define and operate the framework for scalable Data Ingestion pipelines for both real time replication and batch ingestions into the Data Lake
• Define and implement the Data Integrity framework to ensure data integrity between the Data & Analytics platform and the upstream data sources.
• Enforce data governance standards by implementing an effective application change control management.
• Drive Effective communications on planned and unplanned events for broader user audience as well as Leadership updates.
• Drive the Standard Work and Continuous Improvement for all Data & Analytics Operational processes.
• Bring together support teams with platform teams, data engineers, data scientists, data architects and solution architects to provide the tools, processes, and organizational structures to support the data-focused enterprise.
• Support/Integrate with Platform team for: Platform Configuration Management, Capacity Planning & Performance Management.
• Lead the enterprise Data Governance function and establish the governance strategy, operating model, policies, standards, and roadmap required to ensure data is trusted, secure, compliant, auditable, and fit for business use across the Data & Analytics ecosystem.
• Own enterprise governance frameworks for regulatory compliance including SOX, GDPR, privacy, information protection, and internal control requirements, ensuring governance obligations are translated into sustainable controls, standards, monitoring, and reporting mechanisms.
• Define and govern enterprise standards for analytics design, architecture, metadata, lineage, data models, KPI definitions, naming conventions, documentation, and governance processes to ensure consistency, traceability, scalability, and auditability across the analytics landscape.
• Lead governance assurance, audit readiness, and remediation activities by partnering with Internal Audit, External Audit, Cyber Security, Privacy, Legal, Finance, and business stakeholders to monitor compliance, assess control effectiveness, and drive timely resolution of governance risks and deficiencies.

Qualifications/Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) with significant experience.
• Major experience in Infrastructure, Cloud operations and Application Support operations.
• Significant experience in driving operations and working with technologies, including Databricks, AWS/Azure Cloud Services, Visualization/Analytics tools like Power BI and data replication tools like HVR/Fivetran.
• Demonstrated ability to lead in a highly matrixed environment
• Ability to work with cross-functional teams to drive operationalization of analytic products and help teams to transform processes through analytics
