Description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Director, Head of Commercial Operations and Analytics based in the United States.

We are seeking a strategic and hands-on commercial operations leader to build and lead the operational infrastructure supporting the anticipated U.S. launch of an innovative cell therapy for a rare disease. This senior leadership role will oversee commercial analytics, forecasting, sales operations, field enablement, CRM systems, and performance management. You will translate commercial strategy into scalable processes, reliable data capabilities, and actionable business insights that support successful product launch and long-term growth. Working closely with Sales, Marketing, Market Access, Patient Services, Finance, Medical Affairs, IT, Legal, and Compliance, you will ensure operational readiness across the commercial organization. You will also manage external technology and data partners while building a high-performing team as the business expands. This is an exciting opportunity to shape commercial infrastructure within an innovative biotechnology environment and contribute to bringing potentially life-changing treatments to patients and families.

Accountabilities:

  • Commercial operations strategy and launch readiness: Develop and execute the overall commercial operations strategy, implementation roadmap, and launch-readiness plan, defining milestones, dependencies, risks, and clear accountabilities. Establish scalable processes, governance frameworks, and decision-support capabilities for pre-launch, launch, and post-launch activities.
  • Commercial data and analytics: Build and oversee the commercial data ecosystem, including data acquisition, integration, storage, reporting, and business intelligence. Define data architecture and integration strategies across specialty pharmacies, distributors, patient hubs, patient services, claims, customer databases, and other relevant sources.
  • Business intelligence and performance reporting: Develop dashboards, scorecards, forecasting models, and analytical frameworks that support launch readiness, field execution, patient access visibility, and strategic decision-making. Translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for executive leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Sales operations and field enablement: Implement and manage CRM platforms, including system configuration, data standards, customer targeting, segmentation, call planning, activity reporting, and field performance dashboards.
  • Field force strategy and effectiveness: Lead field force sizing, territory design and alignment, roster management, quota setting, and incentive compensation planning in collaboration with Sales, Human Resources, Finance, Legal, and Compliance teams.
  • Launch execution and organizational support: Coordinate operational aspects of field onboarding, training, internal communications, and commercial launch activities. Establish business review processes that help leadership identify execution gaps and optimize resource allocation.
  • Data governance and compliance: Establish data governance frameworks, master data management practices, quality controls, access permissions, and documentation standards. Develop SOPs, work instructions, business rules, and controls governing commercial and patient-level data.
  • Commercial systems management: Ensure commercial technology platforms and reporting processes remain reliable, scalable, appropriately validated, and compliant with applicable privacy, security, legal, and regulatory requirements.
  • Continuous improvement: Lead issue resolution, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and ongoing improvements across commercial systems, data processes, and operational workflows.
  • Vendor and partner management: Oversee vendor selection, RFP processes, contracting, implementation, budget management, service-level agreements, and ongoing performance reviews. Ensure external partners deliver high-quality services, reliable data, and measurable business outcomes.
  • Team leadership and development: Build and lead a high-performing commercial operations and analytics team as organizational needs evolve, including recruitment, workforce planning, onboarding, coaching, professional development, and performance management.
  • Executive and cross-functional collaboration: Partner with senior leadership and multiple business functions to communicate strategic insights, provide recommendations, resolve operational challenges, and maintain disciplined execution across the commercial organization.

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree required in a relevant discipline. An advanced degree in analytics, data science, engineering, business, finance, or a related field is preferred.
  • Professional experience: At least 10 years of progressive experience in commercial operations, sales operations, analytics, forecasting, or related functions within the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry, including significant leadership responsibilities.
  • Product launch experience: Demonstrated experience supporting pharmaceutical or biotechnology product launches, preferably in rare diseases, specialty medicine, cell therapy, gene therapy, or other complex treatment environments.
  • Commercial operations expertise: Deep knowledge of commercial analytics, forecasting, performance measurement, data integration, sales operations, and field force management.
  • Data architecture and analytics: Hands-on experience acquiring, integrating, and managing commercial data ecosystems, including commercial data warehouses, master data management, business intelligence, and reporting solutions.
  • Healthcare data knowledge: Familiarity with pharmaceutical data sources, including specialty pharmacy, distributor, patient hub, patient services, claims, customer, and patient-level data, as well as relevant privacy and data-use requirements.
  • CRM and field operations: Experience implementing and managing CRM platforms, customer segmentation, field targeting, territory alignment, incentive compensation, and commercial launch-readiness reporting.
  • Technology proficiency: Familiarity with platforms such as Veeva CRM, Salesforce, Power BI, Tableau, Snowflake, Databricks, or comparable commercial data and analytics technologies.
  • Vendor management: Proven ability to select, manage, negotiate with, and evaluate external data, analytics, and technology vendors.
  • Cross-functional leadership: Strong ability to influence stakeholders, lead complex initiatives, and collaborate effectively across Sales, Marketing, Finance, IT, Legal, Compliance, and other business functions.
  • Strategic and analytical thinking: Excellent problem-solving and decision-making capabilities, with the ability to translate broad commercial objectives into practical operational plans and measurable results.
  • Communication skills: Exceptional written, verbal, presentation, and executive communication skills, with the ability to explain complex data and business insights clearly.
  • Leadership approach: Demonstrated ability to build teams, develop talent, influence without direct authority, and foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and analytical rigor.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, rapidly scaling, and evolving biotechnology environment.
  • Attention to detail: Strong organizational skills and documentation discipline, particularly when managing sensitive commercial and patient-related information.

Preferred Qualifications:
