This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Director, Marketing & Launch Lead, Pegtibatinase based in the United States.

This is a senior commercial leadership opportunity focused on shaping the U.S. strategy and launch of a promising therapy for classical homocystinuria (HCU). The role will own product strategy, positioning, segmentation, messaging, and go-to-market planning across key audiences. You will lead an integrated launch organization spanning Marketing, Market Access, Sales, Medical Affairs, Patient Services, and other critical functions. The position combines strategic leadership with hands-on execution in a fast-paced, highly collaborative biotechnology environment. You will build and develop a high-performing marketing team while influencing stakeholders across a matrixed organization. Your work will directly contribute to bringing an important treatment option to patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals in the rare disease community.

Accountabilities:

  • Lead the development and execution of the U.S. commercial and marketing strategy for pegtibatinase across HCP, patient/caregiver, and patient services audiences.
  • Develop differentiated product positioning, customer and patient segmentation, messaging, market development strategies, and go-to-market plans informed by scientific, clinical, customer, and market insights.
  • Lead and develop the U.S. marketing organization, establishing clear priorities, fostering high performance, and managing relationships with external agencies and strategic partners.
  • Own the integrated U.S. commercial launch plan and coordinate launch readiness across Patient Access, Sales, Commercial Insights & Operations, Medical Affairs, Patient Advocacy, Digital Strategy & Innovation, Regulatory, and other functions.
  • Chair the commercial launch team, establishing milestones, decision points, dependencies, priorities, readiness metrics, and critical paths to ensure coordinated execution.
  • Partner with Patient Access and Sales leaders to align market access, patient support, distribution, field deployment, training, and customer engagement strategies.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with healthcare professionals, thought leaders, patients, caregivers, and the broader HCU community to strengthen commercial strategy and market understanding.
  • Establish launch KPIs, budgets, resource plans, and operating metrics while proactively identifying risks, dependencies, and opportunities requiring intervention.
  • Represent U.S. Marketing within broader cross-functional product strategy teams, ensuring commercial insights and priorities inform program-level decisions.
  • Translate evolving clinical, scientific, customer, and market information into actionable commercial recommendations and business strategies.
  • Provide senior-level communication and leadership across a matrixed environment, driving alignment and execution through influence rather than relying solely on direct authority.
  • Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Life Sciences, or a related discipline required; an advanced degree is preferred. Equivalent combinations of education and relevant professional experience may also be considered.
    • 12+ years of progressive commercial experience within the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry, demonstrating increasing levels of responsibility and leadership.
    • Significant U.S. marketing and product strategy experience within specialty pharmaceuticals or rare disease; experience in rare metabolic disease is strongly preferred.
    • Demonstrated experience preparing for and successfully launching pharmaceutical products in the U.S.
    • Proven experience leading marketing organizations and cross-functional launch teams within complex, matrixed environments.
    • Strong understanding of pharmaceutical commercialization, including Marketing, Market Access, Patient Services, Sales, Commercial Insights, and launch operations.
    • Strong strategic and commercial judgment, with the ability to connect scientific, clinical, customer, and market insights to clear business strategies.
    • Strong scientific acumen and the ability to interpret clinical data and translate findings into meaningful commercial implications.
    • Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders, build alignment across functions, and drive execution without direct authority.
    • Proven success building high-performing teams, developing talent, and creating an environment of accountability and collaboration.
    • Excellent executive communication, presentation, relationship-building, and stakeholder-management skills.
    • Strong analytical and decision-making capabilities, with the ability to make timely, data-informed decisions in an evolving environment.
    • Proven ability to manage complex launch plans, budgets, timelines, dependencies, and critical paths.
    • Ability to balance strategic thinking with detailed execution in a small, fast-moving biotechnology organization.
    • Willingness and ability to travel domestically up to 30%.
    • Ability to work face-to-face with colleagues and support onsite activities in San Diego as required; the position is not expected to be fully remote.
    • A patient-focused, collaborative, accountable, and high-performance mindset aligned with the mission of advancing treatment options for people living with rare diseases.
    • Benefits

      • Base salary: Target range of $219,000–$285,000, with actual compensation determined by factors such as experience, education, skills, and location.
      • Short-term incentive: Eligibility for performance-based incentive compensation as part of the overall cash compensation package.
